It would make a lot of sense of Cheryl was originally meant to oversee their fight. It'd create loads of tension between her and Doug, even more between her and Brendan and she'd have a genuine conflict in trying to decide to do what's best for Ste.

I agree that Doug's trying to protect himself, not Ste, by avoiding talking about what happened before the crash.


Well, Kieron did once say that in the early days he played Ste like Brendan was a bit of a father figure.

Just read back through the old thread and noticed you replied to my post about Ste sending Doug out of the room if Brendan showed up. I probably should clarify I didn't mean Ste would have told Doug to 'F**k away off so I'm with Brendan because I love him!' I more meant what you suggested, that Ste would look for an excuse to get Doug out of the room so he could be alone with Brendan. The thing is, knowing Doug, that would probably annoy the crap out of him. What I meant was Ste would send Doug out of the room even if it annoyed Doug, whilst before Ste would have been a bit worried about what Doug would think.

I think now that Ste has been through this experience he won't be the same again. It's changed his outlook on life and he knows what he wants. The only problem is it's not as clear as just getting up and going for it. There's a lot of complications now and it's only screwing with his head.

One thing is for sure, in tonight's episode there wasn't even any signs of mental struggle with Ste. It was like he had a one track mind and all he was thinking was: 'I need Brendan to be here, and I can't even fool myself into thinking that I don't.' It was like he finally succumbed to all those feelings he'd been trying to repress and you could just see it in his eyes...it overwhelmed him.

Oh it was such a good episode.

I think that's one of the things I liked the most. His need for Brendan was so instinctive.

Bless Ste all confused it was kinda like his shock at the wedding and the way he was acting was sorta it could of been anyone there and he would of treated them the same not your new husband. It was kinda like he knew he was married and was like 'what did i get married for?.

Do we think Ste's had the first of many realisations then, I deffo think somethings changed today and he's thinking differently. Course he's just woken up and is scared so anything could happen but I think he's really going over things in his head and all he could come up with was 'I need Brendan here'

Also, did you notice that Ste did not smile once -Not when Cheryl made the joke, not even when he found it him and the 'man of his dreams' got married- until Brendan's name was mentioned? He only smiled when Cheryl mentioned Brendan

I don't think he needs any more realisations. He knows he loves Brendan. I think Brendan will try to keep him away, so Ste will just think, he's rejecting me again, I had better try to make it work with Doug. But he's not going to forget how he really feels again now. Not the complete denial we've been seeing.
