Lol, I cant think of any faves, I just love them all. Hysteria and Plug in Baby rock though.

They aren't 'The greatest band ever' but they are pretty damn good. However £27.50 for one gig? JESUS.
Aww. I like Muse...or what Ive heard from them anyway. Got into them after hearing my friend talk obsessively about them (seriously...its worrying)

I'd have to agree with limousinewheel's opinion that "they aren't 'The greatest band ever' but they are pretty damn good".
I think Muse are an excellent band, 2004 was a big year for them and they're beginning to crack the US too.

The drumming in Muse does nothing for me. I prefer Mr Selway's funky beats.
He outdrums any drum machine live. As for £27.50 thats about the going rate for a gig these days. I did fork out £33.50 odd to see Radiohead. But all the money from the ticket sales went to local charitys in oxford. So it was worth it.
And before anyone says anything, i don't hate muse. They just don't do anything for me. Music is all about perceptions and the emotional responses music causes in a person. To say that any band is the greatest ever is elitistism at it's worst. But you find that in all forms of music. I'd rather listen to Radiohead than Muse, but thats my choice. Radiohead do have a load of songs from the bends era, right upto just before Kid A was recorded that are guitar based tunes. But Radiohead don't please the masses. Which is why i say they aren't really mainstream. If they were mainstream then they'd be producing OK computer 2,3,4 etc.

I do actually agree with you, and prefer Radiohead to Muse. I hope to see them next time they decide to do a tour/release an album. However, what I don't like are the constant "Muse are like Radiohead" comparrisons, not that I'm saying you did that Digimonster, its just that there is a wealth of distance between their music, as you've pointed out. And yet people seem to think they're the same.
As a Muse fan the Muse / Radiohead comparison really irritates me, I have no problem with Muse having being influenced by Radiohead - I am sure many bands have been but they are not the same as Radiohead.
I like and respect Radiohead - for not only producing good music but for not being afraid to make music they want to. As said previously they could have easily just made ok computer 2 ,3 etc.

I don't listen to radiohead so I couldn't really comment any similarities between the band although i've heard that they are good.

Any review on this? I am going to see them in a couple of hours too! Seem them in V Festival which was great, first time to see them indoor.
I think Muse are great. However, I think they are terrible live. Yet every muso tells me I'm wrong. Well, I'm not. They are poor live. They need another guitarist with them on stage. Then they would be brilliant. Until then, I'll keep noticing all the bum-notes Mr. Bellamy throws in as a bonus.
Muse were great last night. Cameras everywhere and it felt like they were making a new dvd. How you can say Muse are a poor live band is beyond me. They are the best band I have seen live and i've seen quite a few.
However last night was the 3rd time i have seen them promoting the current album and it started to show. It was a bit samey and they need to get back into the studio.
The new song was a bit week also. But everyone I went with had a great time and they won't disappoint tonight either. Its on XFM tonight btw

Muse are pretty damn good, i only have started listening to them in the past few weeks and i only own absolution, but new born, plug in baby and bliss of the origin of symmetry are all great songs along with the ones i have.
Muse bring hope to commercial rock. As do Radiohead. They have managed to breakthrough to mainstream by being rather clever with their output. Radiohead could sample a fart and release it as the first single off a forthcoming album and it would reach No1 on the week of release.
The reason both these bands bring hope is that they stretch the boundaries. Their songs can be mixed to satisfy the masses via the singles market but their albums can paint an altogether different picture and appeal to old prog rock diehards like myself.
It's a shame that others like Porcupine Tree, Anathema, Opeth and Pineapple Thief can't achieve similar success as they would appeal to a similar fanbase. Yet radio airplay remains the source of many music listeners' record collection and whilst this remains so, those that should make it will remain overshadowed by those far less worthy and far more manufactured.

Sometimes I like music stripped down to the bone, like the White Stripes, but sometimes you just need something completely overblown and over the top.
That's where Muse come in, with Matt Bellamy's amazing musicianship and his operatic vocal gymnastics. Fantastic stuff.
Plus, I've been into them from the early days, so a few of their early singles I've got a worth a mint now. Which is nice.

Maybe not the Greatest Band Ever, but certainly the Best Live Act I've seen in the last five years.
£27.50 may seem pricey for one gig, but it's a small price to pay for the experience and memories generated by that one night.
Also, when you consider that all 36,000 tickets sold out in within a few hours, I can't be the only one who thinks this!
When a band get to Earl's Court size, then that's the price you pay. I payed £22.50 to see Coldplay there last year and £25 to see Muse there this year.

F*cking amazing !! Went to Earls Court last night, and words cant explain how good it was.
I went to see them at Portsmouth (Guidlhall, I think) last year or maybe even the year before. The venue was so small and it was like I was really close to them. It was fantastic. Don't agree with what another poster said about not being good live, it obviously depends on the sound systems of the venue though.
If you factor in the two bands (Soulwax and the Zutons) that supported Muse, then it's easily worth £25!
Looks like I am the first person to say I dislike them, can't please em all, but I find them depressive and boring. Worst song = "Sing for Absolution".
