Letita Dean needs a BIG Storyline...
Sharon's return has been low key, I guess TPTB learnt from Kat that giving her full exposure in her first three months back (baby swap) has ruined her but I feel Letita needs a big storyline to get her teeth into and to keep her in the show..
Lets hope 2013 is a big year for Sharon... |

Getting her away from the Brannings will be the best way to go.
She needs to find out about Phil's involvement in Dennis's death No stupid love triangle with Phil and Shirley. PLEASE NO! |

When I watched EE back in the early days, I used to like Sharon and co. I think it was because they were the same age as me and I connected more with them in my young days!!! I don't watch EE much now but when I do, I just find her really annoying. The breathless talking and stuff. I feel like giving her some oxygen when she speaks. I don't remember her being like that, though I'm sure she was!
I'm not sure a big SL would change my view about her. But to me if you are going to bring back a character that was popular, you need to get her her own SL to get her teeth into. I would imagine there is one lined up for her. People haven't complained about her being back have they? So if the general feeling is people are happy she's back, it makes sense to give her a nice big tasty SL for her next year. Not that it would make me watch, but surely if someone is popular, you need to get them into something juicy! |

I'm sure she will get a big storyline at some point next year but right now, it's nice that she's back but overly dominating things.

LN said she had some big stuff coming up in the spring. Her problem is there is a love triangle coming up and it is not the dreaded Shirley/Sharon/Phil but almost as bad Jack/Sharon/Phil. Just get her with Phil already.

Simple. EDIT: I find it hard to believe Shirley won't be involved in this |

There should not be a love triangle at all. Sharon realizes what a boring, waste of space of a man & father Jack is and she walks away and gets with Phil in 5mins

Isn't it bad enough they are taking up old characters without regurgitating old story lines

Sharon and Phil never had a chance to be together properly and when a soap has been going for over 25 years stories will be recycled. They have chemistry that is more important than looking for the next new thing. That's the problem with new EE is all plot driven stories and not the thing that made it great character driven stories.

It's not new; EE has been plot-driven for years.

She needs a BIG storyline? As in she needs to make a wish on a fortune-telling machine and wake up 20 years older?

No, please no big Storylines for Sharon. She's just so boring and its like she always on her high horse and looks down on people. In my eyes shes like the worst character in the square. She honestly bores me to death and I find myself fast forwarding most of her scenes.

I have to say I have not enjoyed Sharon this time round at all. I am finding her even worse than in the 03-04 period which until now used to by my least favourite period of Sharon.
The majority of the cast were introduced from 2006 onwards and they are the ones being pushed by TPTB and Sharon just feels out of place within the mix. I can't blame TPTB for this as it's vital the show continues to develop that next generation of characters and they can't just drop six years worth of development for a returning character in order to make the show all about her. At the time the Brannings, Shirley etc were introduced EE badly needed new blood. But at the same time it now creates this dilemma of a returning face - Sharon - feeling out of place It doesn't help that Sharon has been mainly used as filler and has barely interacted with the characters she knew from before - the majority being from her 01- stint. I particularly hate her relationship with Jack and while I agree she improves instantly around Phil and Ian I still find many of these scenes hard work because of how poorly used Sharon is elsewhere, and with regards to Phil I'd have liked there to have been more focus on the Dennis issue. One possible solution to all of this would be to reintroduce Vicky (with a y, I never got why they changed her name) who would not only serve as another link to the show's past but also Sharon's past too. It would also create a realistic link to Ian for Sharon rather than their scenes feeling token because there's nobody else she really knows from the old days as they do now. The Sharon/Ian scenes particularly grate on me as they ignore Sharon and Ian's drifting apart throughout the 90s, but then again that's something that really started in her last stint. |
