Im getting fed up of someones cat who keeps pooing in my gravel driveway. However it does not bury it leaves it on top. is there anything I can put on my drive to discourage this. Its only just started happening however Im yet to see which cat is doing it.

You can get various cat deterrents, granules and sprays. Lion dung has been suggested before.

I've previously tried a fox repeller, it has sensors that sprays citronella or water when movement is detected.

The only things I've ever found to be really successful were to remove or cover all open soil and gravel and chase off any cats if I catch them in the act.

I've since moved to a place nearer to main roads, less of cat population oddly enough

Aimed at folks with bird tables/feeders but worth a read

Looks like a trip to Longleat to ask his Lordship for a spadeful of Lion Dung then.

Spray the cat with water every time you see it. They will soon learn.

We have found putting a fence round our garden and topping it with nylon netting (the stuff designed to grow peas up) has stopped them coming into our caravan garden, but the garden there is tiny so it didn't cost too much to do. Also we let the dogs roam the agrden and that also helps.

Not sure that would work for a drive though. Sorry because it's horrible problem to have.

Yes, but then you have BIGGER cat poo on your driveway!

OP I have yet to find anything to keep them off my gravel front garden, I have a bucket half full off poop that I picked up last week.

I know it wouldn't be pleasant but I wonder if picking it up is prolonging the problem, most cats don't go in dirty areas pehaps leave it for a month and they will have moved onto another area ?

Could also be fox poo, they tend NOT to bury it and leave it on top as a marking of their territory.

Cats, water spray is a good one and there are some good stuff on the market I think for drives/ gravel things. Google is your friend
(check out the gardening websites and even online pet stores).

loin poo is also a good one , you can leave it on the side as it's the scent they (and foxes don't like it) You can get it online (or something similar)

^ As above, how do you know it's not a fox? One did a poo right outside my front door once. Cat's usually bury their poo.

It's most likely to be fox poo. I see a lot of foxes around my area at night and they always leave deposits everywhere. If the poo looks like a soft splat and sometimes pale in colour, then it maybe from a fox.

Cat poo tend to be more solid and round and small in size (that's how it should look for a healthy cat). I know because I have several cats and they use the litter tray.

Cats have a God given right to poop where they like. Deal with it.

More of a law given right

The Cats protection recommend an automatic garden spray for larger areas.

That's not true. I was wondering earlier this year where our cat had been having a poo. I found a pile of it which filled a carrier bag. It was all different colours so unsure if it was just our cat or other cats (our cat never did light colour poo). It was gross and she stills poos in the same place even though I cleaned the area.

theres a good alarm in Wyevale and it really works.
they say it works after 8 days and it does.the cats wont return I think its 29.99
We had terrible trouble with cats using the front door step as a loo we had to act because of the children being so small. Its been a month now and no poo

Oh ours were little devils who would never use the litter tray unless it was pristine so I assumed

That's what I used to think. But cats regularly go without burying.

I dealt with it - by scooping it up and dumping it on the front garden of the owner of the offending cats. She had at least six cats and had the nerve to complain to her friend when they did it on her own garden. I have a god given right to return it to them!

When I spoke to her about it, she ranted on about how I couldn't prove it was her cats, had I had it DNA checked, silly cow. So I let her have it back as I had seen her cats with my own eyes. I'm sure she hoped they would do it on her neighbours gardens as opposed to her own.

I like cats, but in residential areas, people shouldn't have too many, it isn't fair on others.

Good for you for being assertive. You dont have to tolerate it.

Your neighbour will likely hope they will use another neighbours garden so they dont have to regularly clear out litter trays, have their furniture scratched and annoy them inside etc, and its easier to let them roam, and then spout off about the law and the how do you know its my cats etc when a neighbour approaches them about it. It`s definetly unfair.

and property owners have a God given right to deter cats that wander onto their property humanely..so a loud noise, clap, chase or squirt of water is more than acceptable..there will ofcourse always be those who go one step further after getting frustrated at other peoles cats visiting them.. but often their actions go unseen as obviously a cat cant talk..and owner cant see whats going on..sad but true..I deter cats..but humanely..I do know a few who arent so tolerant.
