Could Kurt Benson or Rob Hawthorne ever return to Hollyoaks?
I know both are dead, but that didn't stop Warren coming back for a year, or Mr C coming back as a ghost/vision for six months. Kurt died off-screen didn't he? (why they killed him off is beyond me?) and I don't remember if they found Rob's body or not?
Any fans of the early days of Hollyoaks will remember the extremely long running storyline of Kurt vs Rob, could either of them ever return? I loved the old days with them two, Mr C, Max, OB, Lewis, Mandy, Carol ect. |

No they should both stay dead. Kurt wasn't even a very good character for one thing and didn't Rob die on screen? I'm not sure but I think he did and it would be kind of hard to come back after that.
In my opinion, for what it's worth, bringing back characters that departed over a decade ago is senseless, they have no place in Hollyoaks in its current form. Rob was a great villian at the time but his vendetta was purely personal to the Benton's without them he would have been rather redundant. In a way I think it would be kind of really awesome if Rob could come back, only Tony, Jack and Cindy and maybe Darren would know him but he's dead. I really disagree when people say the old days were qualitatively better, I know you're talking about characters but as far as I can remember early Hollyoaks was pretty pathetic. It was much more superficial for one thing. They did have some great characters - Max, OB, Mandy and Mr.C and of course Jambo but honestly I recall the majority of them being absolutely dire. |

I don't agree the old days were better either. I did love it back then but 2002 - 2003, 2007 - 2008, 2012 were much better than the 1995 - 2000 era. I thought a lot of the characters were good back then but there were also some really bad actors among them and the show got a lot of negative press. I wasn't sure if Rob died on screen or not, or whether his body was shown/confirmed as him. As much as I love the show at the moment, it's not the same to me without Max, OB and Mandy and there are very few characters left from the early days, I'd love Rob or Kurt back. I never understood why a few months after Kurt left, he was killed off off screen (in a jet ski accident or something?)
The only characters I really miss are Max and OB, they were just the heart of Hollyoaks and they still haven't filled that gap. BK is now saying its the Osbournes but I disagree with him, I love them but its not the same. |

I think Rob was killed when he set fire to the double decker bus kept in the yard which Finn lived on. Wasn't it a new year party and all the gang were there? Kurt was killed in a jet ski accident - was that on one of the first video episodes?

I used to love Kurt and Rob. However, it would be very difficult to bring back characters who have very few links left to the show. HO has a very high cast turnover as well. It would be nice to see a few returnees . I loved Justin Burton far more than Tommy in CS. Jude, Cindy's sister would also be fun to see return and Jess and Kris from the student gang.

Yes I remember him being killed when the bus exploded too but I think what the OP is pointing out is that we also saw Warren getting hit by the mirror but Paul Marquess said the fact that we then never saw his dead body saved him because they were able to write around that. I really can't remember if it was the same case for Rob, either way I still don't think it will ever happen. They can't get away with that twice.
