What does " ^^^ This " mean?

I am guessing - "I agree with the above". But sometimes (or often) a little knowledge can be dangerous. Google wasn't helpful on this.

And BB? =

I worked out that BiB means:

the "Bit in Bold" is what I am talking about.

.............

Maybe this thread could be used as a depository for Textish and Forumish queries.

^^^ = agree with above, as you correctly surmised.

BB- ? Not sure, not referring to the Big Brother forum, is it?

BiB- is indeed 'bit in bold'. It refers to selected text which is highlighted into a bold typeface from a quoted post by another forum member who wishes to discuss the point.

Depends if you've been on the unapp thread or not.

BB on there is Bobby Botherer or Lisa.

actually could also be Bobby Botherer as Lisa did not seem to have had the memo that we all know Bobby is gay now

Guessing from context I thought it was referring to Lisa.

Robin is called Bobby by all his friends, not Robin.

Got the middle two 20 years ago when I was on CompuServe and I use them all the time.

ETA and WUM were new to me here and I had to google.

I also waste time on two other fora - both very geeky and I would guess both about 95% males. The language and style here is very different. Lots of talk here about bums, chests and crotches. Loving it

I always thought IMHO was "in my honest opinion". But humble is so much more passive-agressive

I should have written repository of course.

The forum's language pedants have been kind.

Big Bertha was a gun, I believe. Billy Bunter was the "owl of the Remove". We are showing our age here!

Ah depository/repository - could be worse. In a meeting I once tried to describe a female colleague as a public repository (of knowledge) that the engineers could use. Instead I described her as a public recepticle for the engineers to use

You were probably right the first time.

Dunno. Very close. But not quote the same thing.

People argue about the difference with opposite conclusions and even the Latin roots depositorium and repositorium do not help much.

That could run and run.

On engineers, a while ago, I had a post-work drink with a very good friend.

He was delighted in telling me that the girls in the office had voted him "The Best Dressed Engineer".

He hasn't been able to live that down.
