according to Ian on last nights ITT

There are 8 celebs left in the competition, 3 will be in the final

Does that mean that we will be having a double elimination week or do I have my maths wrong......

I'm assuming they meant 4 whole weeks, but 5 weekends.

Saturdays
24th
1st
8th
15th
22nd That's the final, surely?

Oh... that does leave us with a double elimination.

Exciting.

Thanks for clearing that up.... (presume 4 more weeks of ITT only)

Yes double elimination in the SF unless someone pulls out injured before then.

They usually knock two out in the last 5 leaving the 3 finalists

I do this every year since the dawn of Strictly. I spend too much time obsessing about it, and wonder why I've got about 3 days to do Christmas

In September Christmas always seems ages away

Its well overdue for 2 dances a week I feel. Series 5 they had also done at least 3 group dances by now

I know. I wish they'd adopt a scenario from dwts, where when there are 6/8 couples left they divide into 2 teams and produce a group dance, which is then marked and added to their individual score. It's made for some terrific group dances on dwts, and makes it easier for the viewer to pick out their favourites in a group dance, which when they are done on Strictly can be difficult.

Off topic I know but did'nt Dancing on Ice split the contestants into 2 teams as well.
I'll be glad to see them having 2 dances each to do but I wonder how some of them will cope as it seems to be difficult enough for them to learn 1.

Last year they had the swing-a-thon when there were seven couples left so I wonder if they will do some similar this year.

They do need to step up to two dances at some point even if it's for only one week like last year else it will be a shock for the finalists when they have four in one week!

Of course I'm excited it means it's closer to Christmas but I'm also sad this series is coming to and end. This year is quite weird for me as well, I feel like even though we are quite far into the series there hasn't been that many "wow" dances for me. It's more about the celebrities and their partnerships that I'm loving and really going to miss.

What I miss most about the group dances was the videos of them all training* (*mucking about and taking the mick out of each other) as a group. After Louis & Flavia's Dirty Dancing salsa I looked up the video of them all doing it as a group dance in Alesha's year and basically it was just all the boys fighting about who got to do the lift, it did make me laugh.

No way! I really hope the final is weekend of 22nd as I'm going to watch a pantomine on the 15th and will be devastated if I have to miss it!

I hate the swingathon. I do agree that it might be rather difficult for some of the remaining contestants to cope with more than one dance.

Having a double elimination semi-final is a good idea from the producers' point of view, it gives them a bit of protection if someone has to withdraw from the competition meaning that they will always have 3 going into the final. I know there have been plenty of years where there's only been 2 finalists, but I do think you get a better final if you've got 3. Maybe series 6 would've been somewhat saved from the embarrassment of their semi-final mess if they'd had a double elimination planned and just changed the format when John Sargeant walked out.

I loved the team 'matches' on DWTS - interesting how the weaker dancers always (well, nearly always) seemed to manage to keep up with the better dancers when they were altogether.

DWTS seemed to come up with lots of ideas to keep the show fresh & new, even though they have 2 series a year. I really wish it was still shown in the UK.

that's what I'm assuming is the reason it's not done over here.

I dont know how far you could get rehearsing something individually which is later put in a group

Considering the interest why does the BBC not have the schedule on the SCD website with the date of the final?

My wife is organising a "strictly" party and with the new 3D projector I am tasked with obtaining 3D glasses. Am holding off until I know if the final is going to be in 2D or 3D.

Anyone got any news as to whether it will be in 3D as it was last year?
