Does anyone know when it becomes pure public vote?

Is it the last 3 or 4 ?

I should imagine it'll be in the semi-final when there will be two eliminations (based on the last two years anyway).

Edit:

Do you mean pure public vote minus the dance off?

Or, pure public vote minue the judges' leaderboard giving points?

In the final it should be down to the public vote alone, but that'll be said for sure closer to time. Less sure about the semi-final with the double elimination.

In my memory of when there was last a dance off, I have this idea that in the semi-finals they will first announce who had the lowest vote, who will be out. And then they have a dance off between third and fourth. But I could be dreaming that, my memory is rubbish.

This is the first year they've had both the dance-off and the double elimination in the semi finals. In series 5 & 6 they had the dance-off in the semi final which had 3 couples instead of the intended 4 (except in series 6 they actually didn't, of course), but in series 7 they scrapped the dance-off and the couple on the lowest combined score was automatically eliminated. Series 8 got rid of the dance-off but added the double elimination to compensate for a possible withdrawal.

Ah, thank you for that. I'm not at all surprised I'm wrong. I had forgotten there was no dance-off the year Gavin and Scott, I think, went at the semi-finals.

correct..

I have a feeling that just to be on the safe side ( to ensure Denise gets to the final) that there willl be a DO in the SF.

I'm pleased to hear that the public will decide.

It's not been confirmed but it should go like this:

Final 3 - judges scores don't count, public vote alone
Final 5 - both judges scores and public vote combined, but no dance-off (bottom two are both eliminated)
Other weeks - current format maintained i.e. judges scores and public vote combined plus the dance-off.

I doubt there will be a dance-off in the semi-final. It's never a good idea to eliminate the celebrity who is top of the public vote, which was probably the case in series 5 (Gethin). Since then the producers scrapped the idea after the Tom Chambers fiasco, as there was no semi-final dance-off in Series 7.

This series is actually unprecedented, since in previous series where there was a dance-off there were only 3 couples in the semi-final. Those three series (series 5, 6 and 7) were meant to have four couples in the semi-final and three in the final; but in all of those years, a couple withdrew from the show (Kelly and Brendan; John and Kristina; Jade and Ian), resulting in a single elimination leading to a two-couple final, or no elimination leading to a three-couple final.

The current five-couple semi-final format is a contingency plan, in that the show can revert to a single elimination if anyone withdraws.

I hope you're correct. It sounds perfectly logical to me, so that means that the producers of the show probably wont do it

We just have to get our favourite celeb(s) to the semi finals....rushes off to do the maths to see if it's possible....
