It's a week after the final - we've had a bit of time to reflect on the show. I like everyone to nominate their favourite performance and say why they like it.

I have been listening back to recordings and now really really love G4's 'You'll never walk alone'. It's not the most perfect vocally but it was the week when we were worried about Jonathon's voice and when you listen it really sounds like they're singing for their lives. There's emotion in that performance and it's just great!

I agree actually, but then i am a huge Liverpool and G4 fan - perfect song choice for them for me!!

I also really liked Tabby's My Oh My - only other non-G4 performance that stood out for me

For me, Tabby singing In the name of love was IMO his best performance as as soon as we heard he was singing it, alot of people doubted he would be able to pull it off, but he sang it brilliantly!
I know this was the week he went but to me, he went out on a good performance!
Also My oh my, after this performance, i was smitten, from then on, i was A TABBY FAN!
There were a few other favorites: G4- creep, Fantastic. Steve- AAO, ive always loved this song! And rowetta- over the rainbow! How powerful is her voice!

.....I really loved G4`s first performance - Everybody Hurts.......for which Simon Cowell called it "sensational". I hope they get to include this on their first album

Rowetta singing Somewhere from the Westside story! WOW! infact all of her performances i can't choose a fave! Because she has an amazing voice and when she sings it just blows you away and you're like WOAAAH! fantastic!

Cassie singing All by myself was good too, i wasn't a fan of cassies but that was really good

Pretty much all of Steve's performances, especially "Smile", "Higher and Higher" and "Let's Stay Together"

I also loved 2 to Go's "I've had the time of my life". I can't stop playing it.

My favourite performances were early on:

Tabby - My Oh My & G4 - Everybody Hurts.

My Oh My in particular was a great performance. After that, I thought Tabby would improve each week and go on to win, but he just didn't build on that. G4 peaked with Everybody Hurts, and went downhill with song choice, but brought it back in the last couple of weeks

I found all of Steve and Cassie's pleasant, if a little bland (although I did like help me make it through the night) . I kind of liked Rowetta's performances, didn't like any of 2 to Gos, purely because Louis wouldn't let them sing anything that had not already been done by male / female duo, so all their songs were very dated. VWS were good enetrtainment and they had good choices of songs. Roberta & Verity did not give great performances for the week(s) they were on, but had potential, but they just didn't engage with the audience.

Sorry, I seem to have done a full review there, but I wanted to mention why I didn't choose any of the others.

No-one performed well enough to actually motivate me to vote

Steve - Smile, Lets Stay Together, Higher and Higher
G4 - Everybody Hurts, Circle of Life
Tabby - My Oh My, In the Name of Love
Rowetta - Over the Rainbow

Best?
Without a doubt IMO it just has to be Rowetta's XF final night performance,of WYTMTYLM first and second time.
My reasons?
Rowetta really reached out and touched a lot of people with her "Torch Singer" performance of WYTMTYLM,and the second and final time she sang this song, when her emotions really kicked in,it was IMO a VERY special performance.....unsurpassed.
Btw:I have loved ALL her performances, although if I had to pick a runner up it would be her great version of McCarthur Park....(IMO awesome too!)

This is a real question - not a smart alecky thingy!!!

While I didn't think Rowetta had the xfaxtor, I do think her voice is superb, particularly during her very last number on the show.

Except, can't for the life of me remember what it was!

So, question is, what is WYTM etc?

"When You Tell Me That You Love Me"
Man,that was some version,and they(GBP)voted her OFF?
aggghhhhh!!!
That's supposed to happen when you have a Rosie Ribbons moment.
I'm still NOT over the injustice but I am SO glad that Simon chose her, otherwise many would never have heard WYTMTYLM.

Thanks PIV!

With hindsight (and after some of the performances on the forum ) would it have been better not to try and play off different genres and had a winner - with a contract to follow - from each group voted for by the GBP, with a three-way final to choose an overall 'most likely to hack it' hopeful? With feedback given to each act by impartial industry experts.

I'd have had Rowetta, Tabby and G4 in the final - all worthy in their own way, but better than the others in their groups.

The overall winner is always going by personal choice, so I'd have had G4, because I think there are more career options and direction for them.

(Mind you, that way, I'd probably have had to do without the superb Shazza/Steve moment. A television classic!)

Best performance by a mile: Rowetta singing Somewhere.

Others:

Steve singing Smile, Let's Stay Together, Higher And Higher and Have I Told You Lately

Rowetta singing When I Tell You that I Love You, Over The Rainbow and McArthur Park......shit song, great performance

G4 singing Nessun Dorma, Circle Of Life (bottom 2? wtf?) and Bohemian Rhapsody

Cassie singing Alfie (agreed with Simon about the song choice, but boy did she sing it brilliantly!) and without You, one of THE hardest songs to sing ever!

Tabby singing My Oh My and I was one of the doubters about Pride (In The Name Of Love) but he nailed it

VWS singing Lady Marmalade..........they would have done so much better under the guidance of anybody other than Louis

Looking back I have to say that this show had an abundance of talent, it's a real pity there could only be one winner. But I'm sure we haven't heard the last of any of the acts I mentioned.

i have to say Voices with souls 'Real Lady Marmalade' even though the girls qwent out the week they sung this, i think this was one of the best performances of the show, they sung it well and performed it well.

Rowettas 'You dont have to say you love me' this performance has alwyas stuck in my head, i loved it when she sung this one because she really did well on it.

Tabby 'My Oh My' i liked this performance by tabby because this performance showed he had range, i also liked the choir.

Like so many of you, Rowetta's "When You Tell Me That You Love Me" - I seem to have a bit of a theme going with liking peoples' performances the night they got voted off as I thought Tabby was good with 'My Oh My' and Voices With Soul great on 'Lady Marmalade' as well!

I also liked Rowetta's 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' - the only performance of hers I didn't like was 'Somewhere' which I know most people love. That's probably because it is a song I do a lot so being an arrogant little madam, I prefer my version!!! Rowetta is, however, a MUCH better singer than me, she's amazing.

Rowetta - really liked Somewhere - I thought that was a powerful totally commanding performance.

G4 - vocally I enjoyed Nessum Dorma mainly because I liked Jonathan's voice most on that one - more full and rounded (if you get what I mean). As an overall performance I'd go for Circle of Life and BR mainly because the choreography worked for me and with Circle of Life I wasn't being drawn back to the original and the inevitable comparisons.

Tabby - well he sold it to me from day 1 but My Oh My cemented it. Pride - I thought he nailed that one and at last they dropped out the backing track. I don't think the balance was right on lots of his songs so I had to keep listening to the music files to judge properly.

Sorry, nobody else really did it for me.

The best performance for me was G4 Nessun Dorma, not just because G4 were my favourite, but because I love the song and thought they were great at singing it

Another song I liked was Tabby, My oh My thought he was great at singing that

hey - thanks for posting everyone! I'd forgotten how good some of these performances were!

Maybe they could do a cd like they did with Fame Academy...

ooh I'd love a cd with the performances followed by a soundbite from Simon after each one...
