The BBC drop Top Of The Pops with Jimmy Saville yet broadcast a grovelling interview with a group, one of whose members had sex with a teenage child. Double standards.

The hysterical tabloid media haven't told them to go after Wyman yet.

Don;t worry, they'll probably get round to him in time.

Bill Wyman is the acceptable face of a paedophile, and has been for many years. I know the 80's were a different time but can you imagine the outrage today.

Of course, you will have people here saying he is not a paedo as she was "willing" and her mum allowed it. Well, to me, a mother allowing her 14 year old child to be raped (in the eyes of the law) by a 50 year old man doesnt make it right. You will others saying "but did they have sex". The answer is yes, she admitted she had sex with him when she was 14 and he was fully aware of her age.

And yes, you will also have the usual nit pickers on this thread calling him a hebephile, bebephile or other type of phile etc etc etc..............zzzzzzzzzzzz !

    Neither was SaVile.
However the difference ( and it is a big one) is that our Mandy seems to have wanted to be with Bill . JS not only targetted little fansters but those who were emotionally disturbed and in homes and hospitals. Wyman does not appear to come into that category just wearng the hat of "dirty old man" (with cash)

I suspect many (if not most) of the ones that Savile accused of assaulting were willing participants. The retired head of one Approved School that he visited said they would do anything for a few cigarettes or some money. She was not aware of anything happening, no one told her.

Savile is dead, you can't be convicted of crimes once you're dead.

Why was Wyman never prosecuted, the girl in question was only 14 at the time.

    Perhaps there was no evidence.

    Perhaps there was no evidence.

Exactly if the person concerned does not make a complaint to the police, no one else was present. There s no evidence for an investigation.

There actually was a big fuss about it at the time. Men going out with 13 year old girls wasn't considered acceptable even then and they were questioned by police.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1266664/Mandy-Smith-I-DID-sleep-Bill-Wyman-I-14--man-life-God.html

Mandy was questioned by police when the story broke, but to this day the family have refused to press charges. Why? 'What good would it do? He has a family now. What happened happened.

'And I suppose because we did go on to get married when I was 18, it didn't seem as bad.' Legally and morally, though, she was the victim of abuse. Does she think in those terms?

It's interesting to note though that at the time it was well reported that he was having an affair with a 14 year old, everybody new about it and nothing was ever done about it. There were pictures of them in the papers etc.

It was just accepted that the randy old rocker was doing what randy old rockers do.

Just shows how time have changed.

    That's revisionism.

It was a big scandal and the police were involved but both parties denied having a sexual relationship so nothing could be proved, just as it would be now.

When Mandy Smith complains then I'll maybe start paying lip service to the faux outrage of others

I think the point where she married him was kind of a signal that she was relatively happy with the whole "rape" thing.

I always thought her mother was a disgrace, letting her daughter be used simply for the sake of fame and fortune. The girl was 13for God's sake!! How could anyone have thought an association between a child and a 50 year old man - whoever he was - was in any way acceptable?

They wont do that until hes passed away.

Funny thing is people say what he did was wrong but if your the mother of one of those girls getting a load of money chucked to them by Bill they condone it.

Wyman had been, ahem, "seeing" Mandy since 1985, they married in 1989, and they split in spring 1991, Wyman left the band in Dec 1992.

Since his best pal Brian Jones had died Wyman had long been treated badly by the ugly sisters Jagger/Richards, denied writing credits, having to endure the ignomy of egomaniac Richards playing bass on many a Stones track, and sidelined as a mere hired sideman on a fixed wage Wyman decided being out of the Stones was better than being in The Stones.

Being nearly 10 years older than the other Stones, he still looks better than Richards.

You could dig up a body from the cemetery and it would probably look better than him.
