Tesco Jam Doughnuts taste disgusting for one reason
I don't know what Tesco have done to the recipe of their Jam Doughnuts but they taste awful. I've bought some from various stores and they taste dreadful.
Anyone else noticed this? |

I got 10 for £1 the other day and yeah...they have a strange taste to them now
I thought we had just got a dodgy batch, but maybe not.

How do you know it's for one reason?

I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am. It shall remain one of the great mysteries of our time. |

When I saw the title of this thread I thought the "one reason" for the decline in these doughnuts was going to be revealed.

I agree! They used to be nice but now they taste gross.
Sainsbury's have the nicest ones, and i cant comment on Asda ones. |

The problem is Tesco, blandest supermarket in Britain.

Tescos bakery is bloody awful. I hate shopping in Tesco.
Sainsburys doughnuts are nice - if a bit greasy. Morrisons has the best bakery overall. |

Have we established what the "one reason" is yet?

For me it would be 'because they come from Tesco'.

Probably due to the fact they are frozen and thawed out then put on sale?!

They've changed a lot on the bakery. The muffins now come in a cardboard box and have a weird bit of creamy stuff in the middle. The double choc ones are OK but the standard choc chip ones have been replaced with Vanilla and Choc chip and they have some weird vanilla stuff in the middle which isn't very nice.

What do they make in them? If you mean the bakery then they don't make anything they just bake off mixes supplied by whoever.

They still have to prepare the stuff using the mixes though, don't they? And Tesco stores are not exactly known for their cleanliness.
I think the best way to describe them is that they taste soggy and stale, but that's even when they are fresh. Do they not do a taste test on them? |

Putting them in the microwave for 50 seconds improves them.
