Hi,

I am having problems with my 1000S 'waking' from standby.

It's hooked up to a fairly old 32" Samsung LCD TV, and the problem is that about half the time the box will boot up (I see the Freesat/Humax splash), I then hear a noise which I guess is the HD spinning up, and the TV then just returns to 'No signal'. Just to add, the LCD display on the front of the box seems to suggest it is 'on', the current channel is displayed and I can change it.

Sometimes though it's perfectly fine, I see the <free time> animation and I can use the box and view TV as normal.

Is this likely to indicate a faulty box, HDMI cable, some compatibility issue with my TV or a software fault?

I have noticed that when this issue occurs the TV sometimes reports 'Not supported mode' rather than 'No signal'.

Any help much appreciated, thanks.

What happens if you manually change the source on the TV?
If that solves the problem make sure the cable is fully seated at both ends.

That doesn't seem to do anything, neither does switching the TV on and off. The only way to get it working again is to switch off, wait for the unit to 'spin down' and then try to switch it back on again. I can't seem to pin it down to any sequence of steps I am performing (which order I turn the TV/box on in), just seems to be completely random.

I've also checked the cable is fully seated at both ends.

Try

Using a different port on the TV.

A different hdmi cable

If you have the box set to output 1080p try changing to 1080i.

My TV is a relatively ancient Samsung LE32R51BD so it only has one HDMI port. I should say that the last Freesat box I was using was fine over HDMI, so I think the port on the TV itself is fine. The box has always had the output set to 1080i.

I'll try a different cable to see if that helps, thanks.
