He will make it far, he has a lot of friends in the house.

I hope he goes soon though.

As said, he'll make it far. Purely because (as Lord Sugar observed yesterday) they are bringing back people they dislike into the boardroom. The only hope he has of going home is if he is pm again and loses.

In yesterday's episode, he act cake and drank tea... otherwise known as "market research".

He does little and says even less - on the edit, anyway. Maybe he's some whizz really, but we just don't see it?

In all fairness to Patrick, he did quite well on the buying task when he was studying the maps, but that's really the only time he's done something good. Definitely not a front-runner... but who knows, maybe something surprising will happen. Adam seemed useless for the first half of the adult series this year, but he went a lot further than anyone anticipated.

He did speak on yesters task. I'm sure I heard him say "yes" to everything Alice said.

He's shaping up to be this seasons Jim, but without the jedi mind control or charm. He sets himself up as a yesman to his PM in order to avoid being brought back to the boardroom.

He seems to get along with everyone and be quite popular - especially among a gang of hormonal loud bratty teenagers, that's a skill that shouldn't be underestimated.

How much airtime has he actually received each week? Hardly any. So you're judging someone's performance over a 2 day task based on literally about 30 seconds of footage, if that.

I find Patrick's presence in the series annoying to say the least. He never really seems to do anything, or if he does it is edited out! It's all very well having candidates who don't conform to the run of the mill suit but they surely need some business credentials too?

I agree. Alan Sugar picked up that Navdeep hadn't shown any entrepreneurial skills; yet Patrick seemingly did nothing the whole episode except kiss Alice's bum.

Sugar was annoyed Alice brought Navdeep back though. I suspect he's gunning for Patrick as he's not been impressed by him so far - lost as PM and stuffed up his pitch in the cook-book task.

As far as I know, Patrick has not said in any publicity that he is gay - he might be, but that's an assumption and a generalisation about his manner. I don't think The Apprentice does tend to have token homosexuals on the programme though - as far as I can think of, the only candidates who have been openly gay to the press were Ruth Badger, Lohit Kalburgi and Howard Ebison (and I think Natasha Scribbins was bisexual). Obviously there will have been more gay candidates than that as 1 in 10 people are gay, but they're hardly token homosexuals if they're not out in the media, are they?

Token odd candidate, that has appeared in each series following the one with Lucinda - there was Lorraine, and then that funny looking blonde girl with the quiff.

This I would agree with...except I liked Lucinda.

There are generally quite a few more odd candidates in a series! And they had them before Series 4...

Lucinda was an extremely good candidate, she was intelligent, driven, creative, pragmatic and compassionate, yes she was quirky, not odd and she wasn't a flaming asshole, which in the real world is a plus but on The Apprentice where one is surrounded by a gaggle of a'holes becomes, in that alternate warped universe of reality TV a negative.

Also she had the balls to actually say maybe she didn't want this job, given the appalling track record of people who've won The Apprentice poison chalice was an entirely reasonable approach.

This 'token odd candidate' thing seems entirely based on what candidates look like. The people referred to in this category so far have been Lucinda, Melissa and Patrick. I don't think any of these candidates are at all similar to each other. Lucinda was hippyish and down-to-Earth, but difficult to work with; Melissa was supremely overconfident and confrontational, although I think this was a front she put on to hide her own insecurities (I've done this at times when I haven't been sure about myself); Patrick is creative, but appears to stand back in tasks and is possibly a bit weak.

The only thing these three have in common is that at a first glance, they look a little eccentric... Would anyone seriously think Patrick was an odd candidate if he looked and talked like any of the other guys?

If he isn't gay then I'm Mother Teresa.

Maybe he is and maybe he isn't. No need to stereotype, is there?

Please don't tell me you consider wishy-washey, hipster bullshit is an indication that he is in any way creative, he is an attention seeking slime who represents, all that is wrong with the fashion industry (and most art) today, he just tosses together two ill matching and opposing pieces of material and labels the resulting mess "retro" or "vintage", implying that he actually put any effort into designing it at all.

I will never forgive him for his line in the first week in the boardroom as PM;

"You guys are just ganging up on me because I am a fashion designer and you think I'm weak."

No son, they ganged up on you because you were useless pm.

That defense had a bit of a; "You just hate me because of my race/sexuality/religion," ring to it, not only implying arrogance in regards to his abilities but also a willingness to imply faults and prejudices in others where there are none.

Well, everyone has their own opinion. He's not the most creative person I've come across, but he definitely has some creativity, otherwise he wouldn't have been successful with his fashion business. Even the kimono/wetsuit was admired by one shop, they said they would have bought it if there had been more than just one.

I don't understand why you loathe him so much actually. While he has been one of the weakest on the tasks, he does strike me as being a genuinely nice person. I'd rather work with him than Maria or David.

Yeah, but usually if someone is camp and dresses like Boy George in the boardroom then it's likely that they are gay.

I'm a little surprised that Patrick outlasted David. He was quite active the first couple of weeks, but showed awful business instincts. In more recent tasks, he seems to have taken a back seat and been reduced to the role of nodding dog. DId I miss something or has he actually contributed something positive to any recent tasks other than just being there?

I only realised Patrick was in last nights episode because of the Just William pants/ shorts he was wearing.

Btw anyone know why they wear the same clothes in the boardroom every week? Is it so they can show shots at the start and not give away who's in the firing line this week?
