Unable to Complete Talk Talk TV Purchase
Anyone tried to sign up for the Talk Talk Plus TV and had a problem?
I get to the part when you have to arrange a time for the "Brightsparks" guy to come round and there are no appointments available in the next 2 months meaning I can't complete my order. I could do it on the phone but don;t want to miss out on £75 from Quidco. Called them and was just told to try again later. Very unhelpful!!! |

To answer my own post it seems it was prely down to the fact there were no appointments for December or January! Just tried again and a slot had opened up for 9th January so grabbed that one.

Hope your installation goes smoothly. Mine did and I have no regrets. Unless TalkTalk have changed their supplier in the last few weeks (and I don't think they have) it will be the Huawei box, which has a smaller (320Gb) hard drive than the Humax. It automatically deletes the old recordings as it fills up, though (unless you archive them), so that isn't really a problem. Also it doesn't have a digital readout on the front panel. Instead there is a little row of coloured lights that flicker softly when it is recording. Unlike the Humax that you can buy in the shops, it comes with the TalkTalk Player as standard. This includes various on demand services, including LoveFilm, and as much of the Sky SD package as you want. Sky HD channels are to be added before the year is out apparently.
The Bright Sparks engineer who installed mine, also changed my router for one that will be compatible with fibre optic when it becomes available in my area and generally tuned up my broadband at no extra charge. |

Thanks David, hopefully it will all go smoothly, been with BT for many years so it will be interesting to see how it goes.
As I said, the box will be used as a secondary box in the bedroom so wouldn;t be bothering with any of the channel boosts. As we have Sky in the main room it would have been more cost effective to get a multiroom sub for upstairs if we wanted extra channels. On a side note, my Quidco still hasn't tracked so looks like I won't be getting that then. ![]() Just read the tech stuff more closely and it seems the routers only have 2 ethernet ports is that correct? I really need 3 so might have to rethink. |

Hi Ramsey,
The router supplied for TV installations is a 4 port Huawei HG533 router. Looks as if your other queries have been address but it seems the oringal issue is due to availability of engineers in your area. Regards Mark Online Community Department |
