A Dose Of The 'Dance-Off' Does You Good
Sandra Bee

Do you think appearing in the 'Dance Off' is good for contestants?

I think it makes them a little less complacent and makes them try even harder. Look at Michael.

I agree in that respect... but it's also true that any appearance in the bottom two means you're unlikely to win, and Natasha and Alesha were the only contestants ever to win after being in the bottom. In particular, at the stage of the competition this series has reached the viewers are likely to have made up their minds. So in the very early weeks it might be good for the contestants.

I think it very much depends on the contestant and how they approach it. Some of them come back stronger and more determined, and some of them go to pieces when they realise they've not got as many fans as everyone else. I know it's all a matter of opinion, but I thought Zoe Lucker was never the same after she was in the Bottom Two, for example. Whereas someone like Ricky Whittle seemed to use it as a sign he needed to up his game to survive.

I think sportsmen play by different rules. I don't think complacency comes into it.

If Michael's been out for a duck in his cricket career, he knows next time he needs to play better - simple as that.

I think it would be more demoralising than motivating for most, as it signals your time in the contest is probably soon coming to an end... especially early on. There are exceptions to that, of course.

I think I'd be in the "I'm rubbish and nobody likes me" camp.

I'd go to pieces but I agree about the sportsmen and women. They have to up their game and improve.

Made me think did this thread.
Michael came back fighting.........
Kimberly worked harder...
Might Victoria have improved more with such a kick up the behind in the earlier stages?
Might James and Denise be a little less smug if they'd been there?
Might Lisa and Robin changed their choreography?
Might Louis have upped his game?
Would Dani and Vincent get even better???
Will this be a breakthrough week for Nicky?
