General Hospital Question
Where is GH set? I know its Port Charles, but where is that? I know GH is filmed in California but i always assumed Port Charles was suppose to be either in or somewhere near New York?

Yes, it said when they were introducing the programme that it was set in New York.

I would assume it is.
For example so is Hollyoaks, but Hollyoaks is set in Chester which is a real place. And Walford is set in East London which is a real place. Weatherfield is set in Manchester which is a real place. Emmerdale is set in the Yorkshire Dales which is a real place. And so on and so on. |

Does anyone know where i can download a clear copy of the GH theme (Faces of the Heart) as an MP3, not Dave Koz's full version though but the actual one used on the show.

Yes, Port Charles is a fictional town located in upstate New York, near Rochester and Buffalo...its supposed to be a port town on the shores of Lake Ontario. When they needed to show the town in 1981 (for a ticker tape parade for Luke and Laura when they saved the world from Mikkos Cassadine) the city of Rochester was used as a stand in for Port Charles.
BTW, It was only established that GH was set in the fictional town of Port Charles in 1977. Prior to that, you could assume that GH was set in any old General Hospital in the USA (well at least one where it snowed in winter). Thats probably why the hospital is simply called General Hospital rather than Port Charles General Hospital, because when the show started there was no such thing as Port Charles. Almost every scene on the show prior to 1977 took place within the hospital, which is why there was no need to establish where the hospital was located. The hospital that you see in the opening credits is in L.A. They used to film actual exterior locations there, but since the hospital isn't really featured that much anymore and budgets for US soaps were severly slashed during the late 1990s, the only place you'll see the hospital is in the opening. credits! |

ELQ is the Quartermaine's big business company.
The Q stands for the family name obviously, i think the E stands for Edward and the L for Lila. Not sure though. |

On the GH abc website it says Tracy Quartermaine has 2 mother and 2 fathers, How??
For others it does say if they are adopted etc but for Tracey it just says Edward Quartermaine (Father) Lila Morgan Tolliver Quartermaine (Mother; Deceased) George Quartermaine (Father; Deceased) Ida Quartermaine (Mother; Deceased)

Oh, and how old is she suppose to be??
When watching yesterday and Dillon and Ned were both calling her 'mother' i was shocked as Ned looks like he is in his 30's and Tracy doesn't look that much older. |

You have to remember that the Edward you are currently seeing is the third actor to play the role and with each recast, hes gotten a bit younger! LOL. In fact, Jed Allan (Edward) is only a few years older than Stuart Damon (Edward's son Alan).
Jane Elliot (Tracy) is in her 50s I believe, and she does look great for her age. By the way, I found out which hospital is used in the opening credits...its Los Angeles County - USC (University of Southern California). Its actually one of the largest hospitals in the United states. |

Thanks. Yeh Tracy does look great for her age! I was really shcoked the other day when Ned called her mother as she doesn't look old enough to have him as a son considering he looks in his 30's!

I've just noticed something, Charles Pratt Jr and Robert Guza Jr who both work on GH as writers i think, both created and worked on Sunset Beach when it started.

Yup thats right...Im not sure about Pratt's history, but I know Guza's fairly well. He worked on GH as Headwriter in 1996, leaving to help create Sunset Beach. After approximately ten months as headwriter on SB, he went back to GH in 1997 where he was headwriter again for another three years, leaving in 2000. Then Guza came back in 2002 and brought Pratt with him.
