EE 4G on iPhone and status bar
I've just put an EE 4G SIM into my iP5 and it appears to be working but the status bar still only says 3G. Should it be saying 4G - I believe myself to be in a 4G area.

When you are in a 4G area, it will display LTE instead of 3G.
I've been using my 4G card since I got it on Thursday around Birmingham, Some times I get 4G (LTE), but others it only picks up the 3G signal... |

Just one thing to double check is the LTE is enabled.

Go into your settings app. then into general then about. Wait a bit and see if it downloads a carrier update and gives your a button to accept. then reboot your phone. This is what mine did.

If you are in an area that EE states on the website should get 4G coverage you shall get around 2 bars outdoors. Otherwise it's as Davy says or you've just not updated the carrier settings.

4G Coverage
I'd agree it's worth checking that you're in the right area and you're outside in a clear open space. Sometimes trees and tall buildings can impede signal (ironic seeing as 4G has launched in the UK's biggest cities).
There's coverage information here: EE Information And EE's official coverage checker here: http://explore.ee.co.uk/coverage-checker |
