With his strong support from Liverpool, can those scousers actually get their man the glory?

I know the OP is leaving these topics just to grate on my nerves now. "the support from Liverpool." I've told you time and time again, he isn't getting support from here so shut up and pop on with your day and stop fantasising over Queen Chris.

I think you are probably right about the regional support thing. Any contestant will get disproportionally higher levels of voting support from their home area and I would certainly expect that to work most in favour of people from large provincial cities (like Liverpool). However, the fact that the wonderful Rebecca Ferguson could not overcome a fellow-finalist hailing from a small town in Essex in the voting suggests that even at best, the hometown vote for scouse contestants is nothing like as significant as the OP is, somewhat bizarrely, repeatedly suggesting.
he has to win if he wants a record deal . |

It is the others I'd worry about. They may or may not get to record albums. Even if they do, it will likely earn them very little in the way of financial reward. Then what? Jahmene can sing a bit but he wouldn't be a great fit for the type of (financially lucrative) stuff that Chris could do (and has years of experience doing) would he? Being a star, and dreaming of such is all well and good but most importantly, these people will need to earn a living from their craft and Chris strikes me as the one with the maturity, experience, mental toughness and product to do that most effectively, albeit without stardom. I would go so far as to say that a record deal might be the worst thing that could happen for him. |

I don't understand all the "he's from Liverpool so that means he'll have huge support from his city"
If people go down that route, it's like saying "oh he's gay, I'm gay so I'll vote for him!" or "oh he's black, I'm black I'll vote for him!" It doesn't mean you vote for them does it?! |

I don't think he will win. He will come third at best, he has more people that dislike him than like him. So the anti chris vote will work against him even if he was lucky enough to come top 2.

The winner will be either Chris "me nan" Maloney or Jahmene "sob story" Douglas. Either way, whoever wins will be the worst winner of the show EVER alongside Steve Brookstein. Urgh.

The Scouse contingent on here (Christopher Maloney)
Obviously on these forums not everyone is a Chris fan, so just because he's one of yours doesn't mean you have to get overly defensive over him all the time.
Yeah, I understand how much you like him and Liverpool wants him to win etc, but we're all entitled to having a favorite. |

Isn't it more overly defensive to start a thread on how people are overly defensive?
Or am I missing something? |

I had a lovely day out in Liverpool yesterday, got the Ferry across the Mersey, had lunch in Liverpool One and spent time wandering around by The Cavern and then back to Seacoombe and Spaceport.
Strange thing was I didn't see a single poster with Chris on it, and I spoke to a lovely lady on teh table next to me who was in her 70s and she wanted James to win. I accept this is not representative, but I was a little surprised not to see a single poster. |

If I lived in a town/city/county where a contestant lived it would have zero impact on whether I liked them or not. They must be really shallow to be voting on that basis. Not that I believe they are - and as for anyone questioned 'on the street' they may have been asking them about each contestant in turn and only aired the Chris reponses. Simple Derren Brown style trick of the mind.
