For this genre of album it's a great idea, she isn't going to get radio play so she needs to explore other avenues.

I love Melanie's voice and pop songs, but I have no interest in an album of show tunes. I know this is something she wanted to do but it's a hard sell commercially. People who like Melanie generally don't like show tunes and musical theater and people who like musical theater are kind of prejudiced against her because she's known as a pop star and a former Spice Girl. So I don't see her being able to find much of an audience for this record.

Exactly and didn't Mariah sell her Xmas album on there as well?
QVC is a great way to sell products. After five minutes of Melanie on air they already shifted 300 copies of the album, after ten minutes 500 copies, an hour later (Melanie only had 20 minutes airtime) they had sold out over 1000 copies and were subsequently taking advance orders. |

Don't see the shame really
Good on her. Plus Mel C has her own label so she is very much in charge with how she chooses to sell her album. |

Exactly. Not sure what's so "LOL" about it.
Obviously she knows radio won't touch her with a barge-pole and the album sold sweet fanny adams so she has resorted to drastic measures by doing it this way. The only other people who sell their megaflops on QVC are washed up has-beens. I really do like her but c'mon. |

Well the album sold 1000 copies in an hour so she's the one who should be laughing.

Good on her. Mel C was always the more down to earth Spice. You wouldn't catch Victoria flogging her stuff on QVC

Her target audience has changed. Nothing sad about it, still making a living doing what she loves and fulfilled creatively, how many people can say that? Not me for one. Good on her.

although people say its a good career move i can understand why it would make others cringe as QVC is possibly the worse channel ever created (in my opinion)
how many times can they say "stock is low" |

I don't know why QVC is sneered at. It's not aimed at the age group or type of people who would worry about what is "cool" or not, so why singers who use it to advertise their music get so much stick for doing so is beyond me.
Although I wouldn't pay their prices, I'd take QVC any day over mainstream radio, which is as obnoxious and smug as you can get, either full of people with no imagination or "hipsters" who aren't as unique and quirky as they think they are. I feel sorry for people who are so narrow-minded and sheep-like they have to have this spelled out to them. |
