During GaGa's very first X Factor Performance I'm sure they had her at over 100 million ALBUM sales, they obviously just use whatever crap the management/label send over

Adding 100m is truly a ridiculous inflation even for X-Factor.

the 60 million is just US, I think because Taylor Swift has sold 50 something million there and Rihanna is ahead of her as shes the number one digital singles selling artist.

That's not even slightly possible.

If you accept she's sold in the range of 25 million albums WW (it certainly isn't much higher), and has apparently sold 58 million singles in the US...that means that a remaining 100 odd million singles came from outside the US, aka the biggest market. Remove the UK single sales of 11 million and there's still 90 odd million unaccounted for in much smaller markets.

Nice try Def Jam.

Pffft if they were going to massively increase her sales (why exactly, she's already a superstar with massive sales) they should have gone the whole hog and had her ... BIGGER THAN MADONNA!

She will overtake Mariah as the world's biggest selling female artist in a few years.

Most of Rihanna's sales is singles, while Mariah's is albums.

They had it at 30 million during her first and 100 million during her second. They included albums and singles in it.

If it's true, it's hardly surprising, she releases an album like every year..

Last year they said it was 100million.

Surely that's impossible considering Madonna has sold 300million+ (all physical no doubt) in her 30(?) year career. Or is the digital market truly that big?

Actually, Mariah is both an album and single artist. Most of them are obviously albums but that's just because her well-known singles are from the pre-digital era. Even We Belong Together is considered pre-digital because most people still purchased physical CDs back then.

This is completely achievable! It's very fashionable nowadays to use the term 100 million RECORDS sold!! One record can be a 99p song sold on iTunes & given the rate in which Rihanna releases & how internationally popular she is....
Artists like Mariah, Whitney & Madonna's statistics are mostly made up of albums! & the bulk of singles they would have sold were back in the days when it could cost you £3.99 for a single CD/Casette!
To compare artists sales statistics when new generation artists can rack up 100 million RECORDS sales within two years is ridiculous!

I'm not sure where that figure came from but maybe it was also counting singles she's featured on? She's worked with some big artists in the past including Eminem, Coldplay, David Guetta, Jay Z etc so if they were including that, then it's possible she has reached 180 million.
