No the public did. And good. A singer songwriter with real emotion in his voice gets through instead of the producers pet? No offence to Ella but James is the better all round artist.

Why would would Rylan fans who enjoyed his camp fun routines vote for miserable angst ridden James. If Rylan fans are to vote they are more likely to go to Chris and Union J.

Chris may pick up the anti X Factor voters while Union J with Jaymi may up some of the gay voters of Rylan

It's well known that Rylan doesn't get along with Chris and has called him fake numerous times.

As a Rylan fan, I am definitely NOT voting for Chris but will vote for James instead. Rylan and James are good mates and were roomies. Just because Rylan is gay doesn't mean he has to bond with another gay person in the house! In fact does anyone even bond with Chris in the house?

Are you voting for James because he is friends with Rylan or because you like his singing. Just curious because there is such disparity between Rylan and James in terms of their styles that I wonder why someone would switch.

I liked Rylan but would never vote for James. James is not my thing and would never buy an album by him. I would rather buy an album by Union J and yes even Chris than James

And you know that how? I think Ela vs James was maybe one of the only times when they let it go to deadlock because they genuinely didn't know who should go.

There is no house - the contestants have been staying in a hotel, all except Rylan and Lucy who were booted out for bad behavior and put up in another hotel by the producers. After Lucy left, Rylan was moved to an apartment. So if Rylan and James were room-mates, it was for a brief time in the original hotel.

James is far too talented and far too credible for a lot of the folks on here. The guy can actually play and sing and has something a bit original about him.

But unless he stands still and sings an "RnB pop" ballad, the masses won't get it. As all they listen to is the drivel fed to them by commercial radio stations.

TBH, I don't think it matters to James if he wins or not, he has talent, he will be signed, and I think he has a career if he puts the work in. The main point in X-Factor is to survive the live shows long enough to get noticed and appreciated. If you win, that's a bonus, but as has been proven time and again, sometimes it's just as good not to win.

Its a mixed i think and will be very unpredictable

'From what I have seen on various different sites there is no clear swap over of fans from Rylan to Union J. Rylan had a lot of fans and they ranged anywhere from 12 to 60. I have seen a lot of comments where James will now be getting their support versus only one or two going for Union J, and a few who will now vote for Jahmene, overall quite a lot who were only watched because of Rylan will be switching off.

So i think trying to predict is going to be impossible

I really doubt that. I don't believe they would have saved Ella over James, infact I don't believe they would save any of the remaining contestants over James, and that includes Jahmene.
He is probably the only act that has not received a single criticism from the judges. Ella was criticised a few times.

Thank you for that lovely bit of generalisation. I guess you know me so well right. I don't like James because pain and angst ain't my thing. I like a variety of Music. heck I listen to Tori Amos, Rufus Wainwright up to Rhianna and Psy.

I even listen to a bit of Plan B (which they compare James to and this is no comparison). I don't think he is a star and ansgt and pain can be done a whole lot better.

If you look at the betting (especially on Betfair, the most reliable source for these things) you'll see that Ella was far and away the fave at the start and remained that way even the day she was voted out. They even had markets where you could bet on who would finish second to Ella!

Jahmene was the only contestant who came close to her in odds. James has only become viewed as a potential winner in the last week, since he survived the bottom 2. He's now very close to Jahmene, with a big gap to Maloney.

Actually the week before Ella went out Jahmene became favourite and on the Sunday of her elimination James overtook her so at the time of her elimination she was 3rd favourite to win. It was really close between the 3 of them though

You are right, I was a bit sketchy on exact details. But the point I was making remains the same - Ella was huge fave from the start and James wasn't and has never been fave.

I actually think he could go this week but Ella leaving I think will benefit him more than anyone. I can see him getting a good share of her votes but also, people now realise they can't mess around with joke votes and will be voting for the true talent. If that's the case, I'd take him to beat at least one of Union J or Maloney.

I have always liked and supported James from the start.
I would prefer if he did come 2nd though these acts always seem to do better than the actual winners - Olly Murs for one.

I don't think there will be a sing-off this weekend as the act with the least votes usually leaves and the three to get through are in the final.

Also as James has been in the bottom 2 in all Xfactor history anyone in the bottom 2 can make the final but are not declared the winner - I think Jaheme will be crowned the winner.

I think Christopher's vote is too strong to take down until the final two where the 'anti-Chris' vote comes into play Even that will be a close one because people will vote for him just to get the a laugh.

I want a final of Jahmene, James and Union J so bad now but Chris is ruining it

My favourites are Union J so I want them to come 3rd. Finalists and they don't get stuck with Syco, win win. James should be 2nd and Jahmene 1st (he needs it most).

What does it mean "rebound vote"?

Most definitely, he could write and sing songs HE wants to do not conform to SyCo's usual standards

After an act has been bottom two they normally get a vote bounce the next week due to fan reaction.

I'd have thought Union J were in more danger tbh. They've been in the bottom two a couple of times and are basically a one direction copy.
Chris is a cert to be in the final, he'd have been in the bottom two before now if he wasn't.
I kind of feel like Jahmene is forgotten at times, his quiet nature sort of leaves him prone to be over-shadowed.
The judges and public all seem to love James. I'd be shocked not to see him make the final.
