Another great show as far as I'm concerned. I'm lucky in that while I recognise that Dani has the most impossibly Melvyn Bragg sinuses and upward inflection at the end of her sentences she's not bothering me much at all. I don't mind any of them really, although Aaron needs to settle himself down a bit and stop the 'showing off how funny I am' stuff cos that'll get old real soon!
Loved the little quips all the way through -especially when Jonathan said he'd taken Lebanese food to another level and someone finished his sentence for him with "...down" Callum seems far more confident but as charming and awkward as he was before. They even commented on his walk to the judges being the same stumbling shuffle ![]() I thought the Lebanese, Indian and French food all looked lovely but I wouldn't have chosen the way the judges did, so I gather its all on taste. Thought they were a bit cruel with Jonathon's Lebanese to say "You've bought us some lovely food..... and Jonathan's dish" but he seemed to take it in good part. There's a real bonus to the 'lack' of competitive edge - at least we won't be seeing floods of tears this time round! I think Gary, George and Matt are having the best fun out of all of them! I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's episode. Masterchef Aus and firemen. What's not to like! |

Can anyone remember the name of the girl in Chris's season, that he then paired off with? They've got a restaurant together if I remember rightly but I don't dare google him!

I don't remember who she is but am sure her name is Julia or maybe Julie. Was there more than one Julie in season 1? Someone mentioned it on the previous thread.

Just did a quick google images search, thankfully didn't come across any spoilers, Recognize Julia now. There's a really big age gap between her and Chris.

I saw Allstars on youtube months ago but didn't mention it during season 4 because it should be watched second (there's a huge season 4 spoiler in one ep.). I think it must have been unauthorized because it is no longer on youtube. It would be good if someone with technical knowledge in the UK, and someone who doesn't mind Allstars spoilers, can figure out how to get around the geo-block (say, with a proxy server) and give instructions so UK viewers can watch the _full_ episodes in the MCA website. (In a way that avoids spoilers, if possible). Quote:

There are people that dislike Kate? I'm disappointed guys...
As for Dani. I liked her but I knew how weak she was compared to the others and that is why I could never warm to her that much. |

This is an image of them - no words or spoilers or nuffink! While I was out there I found this article which I thought was interesting about the changes to the main show that we commented upon.... all the basic cookery, etc. |

I am not sure I see the purpose of this all stars thing. It doesnt look like there will be an actual winner and it is just a filler and a way to make money for charity (which is fine) but it kinda knocks the sparkle off the show (to me)
Also... they dont seem to have progressed that much, they are making similar quality dishes to what they made when they were real contestants! (Although i think the judges are a bit less harsh on them) |

Ha ha, that'd be me.
Bless his little surfer socks.Caught up with everything last night and I am just loving it. Watching these "old friends" back in that lovely kitchen with all the camadarie with Gary, George and Matt - it was like being wrapped in a huge comfort blanket. In fact, despite being very obviously seasonally adjusted, I was thinking "ooh wish they'd do a Christmas special" and went off into a fantasy picture of the Masterchef kitchen decorated with holly and tinsel, a roaring log fire, chestnuts roasting, silly Santa hats and icicled desserts....... .......ok, I was on my second glass of wine and know it's pretty unlikely holly and roaring log fires are common during an Australian spring. But it is the relaxed and friendly Aussie people and production which makes this show so appealing - can't imagine the oh so serious UK Masterchef ever making me feel 'comforted'.

I don't know when it was organized, but given the length I think it was to give Ten something attractive to put up against the Olympics, but not so important that they couldn't afford it to have flopped. They had no chance of beating the Olympics of course, but they could at least hope for respectable ratings under the circumstances (which they got).

Sorry Dani lovers but we played 'mute the Dani' tonight.
Could we get to the remote before she started her dialog? No we all failed that one! Part two, when to un-mute, is she still talking? We all got that right! It's a bit more family friendly than the beautiful drinking game Nice to see the replay of Hayden in his budgie-smugglers

Glad to see Hayden again, who rocked last time.
The rest...pretty indifferent, if I'm honest. |
