Is protest vote for Maloney any crueler than the judges promising Jahmene the world?

The apparent protest vote for Christopher Maloney that some on DS seem to think is happening, has been (probably fairly) criticised for possibly being cruel to Christopher, giving him false hope.

But is this any crueler than the judges heaping praise onto Jahmene week after week, when (IMO) he really isnt an outstanding singer, or has enormous pop star charisma? Surely the judges are giving Jahmene real hope that he will have a successful recording career and past experience has shown that acts similar to Jahmene dont tend to last long once the X-factor hype has died...

Tulisa is a cow for saying he won't sell albums, but all these people are entitled to vote him winner without any intention of buying his music.

They just don't see all they are doing is proving her right.

OP is right.

The judges calling Jahmene an 'international superstar' are kidding themselves. He will back in Asda by next June.

No offence but if you actually believe that then you are clueless

I remember people saying the same about Leon Jackson and the shoe shop but he never did go back - even though his recording career was a disaster.

It's just a typically DS forum way of saying they're not keen on him. Jahmene will have a great career in music.

If the rumours are correct Christopher has been topping the votes or coming second every week.

Its hardly a protest vote if he has been doing well for so long - maybe people just like him because he seems a decent unassuming guy who can sing well. The other acts left will get record contracts - he is probably the only one who needs to win to get signed.

I too am tired of this bigging acts up in an over the top way. It might have worked post Leona but no more.

Not back in Asda by next June, but not the massive success that the judges are promising him.

He could have a moderately successful career in music I think. As long as he manages his expectations he should be fine with that. But hes a vulnerable young man with a tragic past who's being buttered up by the judges cos it makes good television, & this is what I find rather distasteful and exploitative.

I wouldn't buy his music

Chris is not going to be an international superstar but I reckon that his success will guarantee him some sort of work in the industry for as long as he wants it.

That's your opinion .
The judges might actually believe he will be very successful . Who are you to doubt their judgement ?
I agree with judges fwiw

We are the people who buy the albums go on the tours etc so we have just as much right to judge as the judges.

As for us not to doubt the judges would mean we would all be sheep who should follow what they. And that would be a stupid thing to do.

Every year they hype up a lot of acts. Its all part of keeping the show interesting for the public.

I dont doubt that they might think Jahmene is good. But my issue is that they are being OTT & giving him false expectations

Jahmene will have one album, probably of gospel music, and will then fade into nothingness........... a bit like Leon Jackson.

The good thing is, Jahmene himself is very realistic and his own severest critic. So the praise heaped on him probably has little effect.

Of course it is that posters opinion, who on earth else's opinion would they be posting?

I reckon Jahmene will go the way of many other "international recording superstar" male winners/participants and have a moderately successful music career before falling back on club gigs and musicals. Not a bad existence by any stretch of the imagination but the fact is that timid, humble, male pop stars do not tend to be successful. They need the confidence in themselves to perform. The most successful acts off these shows tend to be those who excerpt themselves a bit more.

Jahmene is this years marcus collins

Not one of the acts left will have a long lasting singing career. They dont have the personality, the voice or the x factor

In fact noone from the last two years has the talent. Theyre all simply average and average doesnt sell records

I think Jahmene will have a lasting album career
He really does have a perfect recording voice and some of the OTT ad-libs can be cut and perfected.

Chris will probably get a 1 album deal and maybe go on the circuit a bit.

If Simon decides he likes Union J enough he will put money behind them and they will be as successful as Simon decides he wants them to be.

Ella will have both good single and album sales for the foreseeable future.

James will have a couple of albums but will be more of a success as a tour artist, leading to album sales, he is more of a performer to watch and listen rather than just listen to.

Rylan will get some late night hosting tv show probably and do the celeb circuit.

In my opinion anyway

Jahmene won't end up back in Asda, but he won't have a successful music career either and those that think he will are deluded. Exactly what market does he appeal to? The only acts you can compare him to are Marcus Collins (Flop) Leon Jackson (Flop) Jow Mcelderry (Success, not thanks to syco though and not a route I think Jahmene can replication/mimic)

He's far too wet and naive for the music industry, he looks like a puppy about to be completely slaughtered.

4/16 acts from last year are currently in the limelight (I'd argue only 2 being a success so far, Amelia and Little Mix)

So how you expect 5 of this terrible lots to all have albums I don't know.

I'd reckon only Ella, James and Jahmene/Chris (whoever wins) will have albums out. And none of them will last longer than two years.

They do build people up every year

Ben Mills was going to be big

Miss Frank could be 'a female JLS' (Louis said one week)

Leon the next Buble

Telling Rhydian he could be 'world class' (after Phantom)

Eton Road the next big boyband

Hope the next big girlband

Giving praise to Eoghan every week, even when he was awful

I'm sure there are other examples

I agree with MartyM8. Christopher is disliked by certain judges for his off stage personality.
We viewers are voting on Chris' X Factor performances which appear to be irrelevant to likes of Tulisa.
Christopher is now my favourite act left in the competition and I do not live in Liverpool either.

Good post, and the answer is no it's not crueler, IMO.

I also don't know why it matters so much if Chris wins. It's not like all previous winners have been high flyers, not even in this country let alone internationally.
