I have a Toshiba TV 40LV665DB, connected to a Sky + Box, a Blu Ray player and HDD recorder all by HDMI.

When I use headphones connected to the TV headphone socket every time I change channels on Sky to or from a HD channel, I get two loud 'pop' noises.

It also happens when I connect speakers to the headphone socket, only the 'pop' noises become loud bags.

I also have an older Toshiba TV 37WLT58 connected to another Sky + Box by HDMI, but when I connect headphones or speakers to this TV, it works perfectly, no noise when changing to or from Sky HD channels.

Anyone any ideas what might be the problem with the newer TV?

Two things spring to mind....

..the Sky box in the problem setup, is the Resolution picture menu set to AUTO? This causes the box to switch between 576i for SD and 1080i for HD. This then makes the TV resync to the new resolution. Have a look in the Sky menus and compare the two box settings.

..TV manufacturers don't spend a lot on the TV headphone socket. It has been a forgotten feature for so very long. Each year new TVs come out with more features than before and at lower prices. Those cost savings have to come from somewhere.

Chris,

Thanks for responding.

I have compared all the picture and sound settings on the Sky boxes and they are both the same. The Pictuire Resolution is set to 1080i on both.

I think you might be right about the TV headphone socket.
