Going on the show to lose weight

Is not going to work, is it? Colin saying "I knew I would never have the willpower" to lose weight in the real world: well, Colin, this is where your will power has to start, and it will be even harder than usual. His body has probably gone into starvation mode because of the ultra-ultra low calorie intake it has had, so he will be obsessed with food and his body will be greedily hanging onto every single calorie. Unless he has the willpower of one of those Buddhist monks who stands up for ten years, he will very quickly put the whole lot back on.

I'm just hoping he slims down enough to fit into a multi coloured coat he still has by this time next year.

But seriously he should for his health and he does know that

The faster you lose it, the faster you put it back on, + 10% minimum.

Agreed. The body has a "set point" at which weight is maintained. You can change that set point over time by constantly overeating, and you can mess it up completely by unnecessary dieting. We no longer really know when we're hungry because food is always available.

The only way to lose weight permanently is to be patient, eat sensibly, and allow the set point to re-set itself at a lower weight level. This level may not allow you to look as good as Ashley or Hugo, but it will be a healthy weight for you personally.

Eating rice and beans for a couple of weeks doesn't really re-educate someone into how to eat healthily. If someone's spent most of their life overweight, the only way to make a positive change is to get some advice about nutrition and diet.
