Is it me or does James look as if he's drunk or smoked weed when singing? Good singer but a terrible way of performing

His style of singing isn't really to my taste. He seems to mumble quite a lot and I can't understand what he is actually singing. The judges keep telling him that he is the best singer ever to grace the X Factor stage though so he must be doing something right.

No disrespect to James and he does have a good voice, it's just the eyes closed and drunk style and turning away from the audience when singing spoils his act for me.
He's something like a Shane MacGowan style but with a better voice.

I think the best wee singer of them all was Ella when we all look back on it.

You may be right. Ella was one of the two acts I wanted in the final. I was gutted that she did that awful version of that Grease song last week. It was such an iconic song that I'm sure that messing about with it alienated a lot of potential votes

I know it's not right talking about the dead, but Kurt Cobain had the same rockers mumble as James Arthur has. Less mumbling and James would be a brilliant act.

He sounds to be in pain. If he was animal, he'd get shot to put it out of it's misery

the whole singing as if he is in pain is just his gimmick to make it look like he is feeling the song more than anybody else

Hasnt all this been said before and then some.

Oh well its a free world but its such a shame that some folk let closed eyes or whatever spoil their enjoyment, when they admit that he has a good voice.

I guess some people have been eating cornflakes with suger and milk for so long that they cant stomach a grapefruit for breakfast. Thats fine.

Simon loved Aiden and predicted him as the winner, he left it a couple of years and found another Aiden type to give it a go

I must admit I couldn't really care less what he looked like. I'm well pass the stage of throwing my underwear and screaming hysterically at the 'pretties'... well ok, I've never did any of that even when I was a teen! The posters on my walls were based more on the singer/bands songs than looks! So I'm quite happy watching James. I do agree, he does give a slight impression of having puffed some weed, but I think that is just him in general really!

But I do like how he sings. I like the dark style with a bit of mumbling. I like he seems to really think about what he's singing and how to use his style to sing the song. I like his voice. That's all that really matters to me.

I don't particularly like James Arthur's style because it works for some songs and not others. He is doesn't tell the story of a song. His emotion is always the same whether it be a happy or sad song and I think he has an aggressive delivery of all songs. But hey, if the public love him they will vote for him and buy his records.
Whoever wins good luck to them.

I know what you mean His slurry style of singing isnt very pleasant to listen to and not to my taste, his diction is often terrible. But none of the judges mention this

I don't think the judges are duetting with the finalists again this year but Nicole could've performed "Fairytale of New York" with him!

What is wrong with a bit of individuality?

We don't all want male/female barbie doll types that stand there with their manicured hair and supposedly cool coats and scarfs, performing to the required Cowell machine standards. Spare us please.
