Christopher Maloney knows how to work the public its almost amazing to watch

Every week during the VT he uses the old classics like

"I am doing this for me nan"
"I am trying my hardest each week"
"I want to thank to public for keeping me in and voting for me"

Plus the puppy dog eyes to the judges comments like he is on the verge of a breakdown.

I think its hilarious and the guys got game

Love him and want him to win <3

What amazes me is people fall for it!!! But then I guess it's just me and maybe a few others who actually really don't like his singing, but prefer it to him talking, because he can not repeat these lines when doing so!! When he sings he irritates me and when he talks, he mega irritates me as it seems so fake! I really wish I could be one of the public who fell for it, save me all this irritation as soon as I see him!

He manages to take EVERY question lobbed at him and turn it into a advertisement for himself.

I was also PMSL at how bitchy he was in his VT about Ella's elimination.

Christopher is for sure the star of this series.

He doesn't deserve all the critisism but I find him very fake and very attention seeking.

He doesn't have the X Factor.

Rylan deserved the semi finals. He would not have made the finals anyway but Christopher might and that would be terrible if he did as Union J deserve it and James and Jahemene are going to be the winner or runner up.

I have given up all hope of christopher getting put out. I will now just sit back and watch the HMS Xfactor as it disappears under the waves.

That was pretty funny. Especially in contrast to Union J's who made everyone think Ella was their pet cat who had been put down.

I know some people genuinely like Christopher, which is fine, we're all different, but from the responses on DS, most dedicated X-Factor watchers don't think he's any good. So who's voting for him? How is this happening? Is there a rearguard campaign to derail Simon Cowell by making the most rubbish contestant win?

I kind of feel sorry for Christopher (although I absolutely can't stand him and his whiny little voice on my TV each week), because he's getting the idea that he's good and he'll have a career. People who vote on X-Factor don't buy records. Simon Cowell's already made his money from the show. The only loser from this is Christopher.

Why did Rylan deserve the semi-final? As far as I could see, he was the weakest singer still in the competition. The public voted James, Chris and Jahmene directly through to the semi-final. Rylan was in the bottom two and the judges voted him out. That tells me that both the public and judges wanted him out.

As for 'working the public', surely the same applies to the other contestants. Unless you view it as OK when the others do it, but not when Chris does it. Which is a strange double standard.

To be fair, "my dad abused my mother" actually is a little different to "I have a nan".

Don't forget 'working the Judges' Rylan was / is good at that and why not. He has got good networking skills and probably is fun to be out with (in small doses). Can't see Jahmene in there and he will suffer career wise because of it. James seems too moody to fit in as well, but seems liked by them at the moment? Poor Chris, if he's got it right with the Public, the real influencers and moneymakers will ditch him at the first opportunity.

I find it odd to think that people really have the time and money to vote for somebody just because they feel sorry for them. I think people are vastly underestimating how much the majority of voters, ooh, prepare yourself for a shock - enjoy and prefer his performances (at least enough to get him this far in the competition without hitting the bottom two).

I think the judges giving him aggro has a slight effect, but more in the fact that they're insulting the viewers' preferences for crooner-style music. I mean, someone who's voted for him because they genuinely enjoy his style is hardly going to be impressed by being told they're 'voting for the wrong people'.

Best comment i have read in a while whole heartedly agree with you well said and yes i do believe that there is a campaign to derail the show which is completely pathetic some people need to get a life if you dont like the show dont watch its that simple

People are really fixated on this guy's nan. I've never heard him mention her although I am yet to watch his audition.

My dislike of Chris started at his audition - just seemed fake and manipulative - his nana (who joined him on stage) was the last straw. I never really got over that initial feeling and although the guy doesn't have a bad voice I've seen nothing to like in his personality.

I felt sorry for Christopher for a few weeks because I feel like Tulisa and Louis' comments are verging on bullying...but last night there was something so theatrical about the whole thing. Previously I was feeling uncomfortable watching, thinking he was the butt of some sort of inside joke between the judges and producers...but now I think he might be in on it too?

I could be wrong, who knows.

It just feels a bit like the judges have already decided what they're going to say before he starts singing, and he is ready and waiting with the sad face and puppy dog eyes, ready to thank people for voting.

It's either a set up, or he's a very smart guy!

Surely the judges would realise if people are genuinely voting for him becauses of the way he's being treated...the best way to rectify that would be to be 'nice' so the voters aren't riled up?

He's playing a very smart game. Tulisa and Louis keep throwing barbed and provocative comments at him about being cheesy, unoriginal and "cabaret" but he completely ignores them and thanks the public for voting for him

It's not just being able to sing in tune, he needs to have a personality. The days are long over when a singer just sang, now they are expected to appear on chat shows, celebrity quiz shows and the like. He cannot string a sentence together without the constant repetition of "yer know", and annoyingly often repeats it several times in one sentence. He does not have the x-factor, but I think he may win and then eventually disappear back to the cruise ships. It was funny today when Jane McDonald said on Loose Women that she would happily duet with him in the final, I'm getting my deck chair out of the shed in anticipation.

Like I said the guy has game.

I want him to try and "Urban" it up to annoy Tulisa. I was thinking Nicki Minaj it would be hilarious
