Hello

Well first off i'm getting a yellow lab pup tomorrow

The breeder is given me 4 weeks pet insurance for free too

Does that mean I wont have to fill in any forms ?

I would think you will need to fill in forms or the insurance would not be in your name,

I think they might be putting it in my name for me though ?

Just the breeder rang up to ask if i was 100% wanting the pup so he can sort the insurance today

It may be some special breeders insurance whereby the pup is insured for a few weeks to give the new owner time to get sorted.

Its a good idea if it is.

Many, many KC breeders and some rescues give 4 weeks insurance cover - The breeder/rescue will fill in the paperwork and the insurance co will contact you to sell you insurance shortly thereafter.

It is an advertising ploy on the part of the insurance company (Pet Plan IIRC) as many will continue to insure with them after the initial free period runs out rather than getting a competitive quote.

So if you dont want to be insured with them after the 4 weeks are up you just ignore them ?

Yes, I had that 4 week free insurance with money I paid the vet for injection, worming and such (for a puppy). I then searched the internet for insurance to take out which I liked the details off. I got the paperwork to renew the insurance from the Vet just before 4 weeks were up and again a couple of weeks later. I just ignored them, and they gave up.
I think a lot of people might take them up on it, easy option, and the breeder /vets might get commision for this. Would not surprise me. It is advertising for them.

How much is it for the puppy injections ? I should know all of this since I grew up with dogs lol

Sorry for asking loads of questions

I think I paid around £60 for both injections, plus worming and flee stuff, they also covered puppy socialization classes, and 6 month check up in the money.

When I got my new cat from Cats Protection, I got 4 week's free cover from Pet Plan. Obviously a rescue centre isn't going to be paying for this - it's just good business for Pet Plan to offer this as many people (me included) will continue with them.

We always had Pet Plan for our dogs, but I took out insurance with another, cheaper, insurer when I acquired my first cat, a stray. There's a lot of truth in the saying that you get what you pay for.

But please don't just stop having insurance when your free time is up - it's a false economy.

We got our pups with 4 weeks free insurance through out vet and it saved their lives, without it we wouldnt of been able to afford the £5k vet bills we had between 3 different dogs (sadly one died) We wouldnt ever risk not having insurance again now

I am in the process of selling puppies, my lab had 10 pups. I am giving the 4 week free insurance and that is organised through the kennel club, all I need to do is put in the KC reg details and new owners details and thats the pup insured for 4 weeks.
