Have we seen the last of Kubica?

I think so

Maybe if he improves physically and gets a single-seater drive, who knows, but I don't expect he'll return to F1.

Very interesting to see Button bigging up Mercedes...

I'd agree. Not sure he'll ever be in F1 again. Such a shame . Hopefully he'll carry on doing what he's doing though. Seeing him in some motorsport, particularly with the link to Mercedes/DTM, is better than none at all.

RE the last point, that is interesting. Rosberg did do a large amount of laps today in testing as well. And Lewis' times have been decent. Although, who knows with pre-season psychology? And we all should know by now that testing times mean jolly bu*ger all.

Anyone heard about the sky f1 subscription change from April?
Apparently new customers will have to buy sports package to get the f1 and it won't come free with the hd package anymore..

But if you already have the hd package you will continue to get the f1 free..
Can anyone confirm.?

I think I read that he didn't get a DTM drive and so I'm not sure what his next move will be.

At first I assumed Button was trying to play some sort of mind game with Mercedes (or Lewis) but the Mercedes does looks a hell of a lot faster than last year. We don't know where they will be but it looks like they are closer to the front-runners than they were at the end of last season.

Hi guys, can I ask a quick question please ? Do the BBC have all the races this year or just 10 again ? Thanks

Sky is the only channel to show all the races live, BBC will have about half of them.

If you want to know which races the BBC have/haven't got: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/20812990

I said this would happen last year Sky do these tactics all the time. They suck people in then mug them for more money

I'm sticking to the BBC. My love of F1 is gradually fading anyway.

True dat. In fact, I empathise with your entire post.

Last year I watched a bit on P2P but this year I doubt I'll bother. The Beebs partly truncated coverage will do for me until they finally give up on F1, and when they do, so will I. Without any great regret, which is remarkable given my love of the sport for the last forty years.

Glad to see that DC has decided to stay, I'd be surprised if Sky didn't make approaches to him. Big fish in a small pond, maybe?

Unless Concorde has changed (perhaps someone can confirm), I am not sure if that would be allowed.

Hate that sky got f1. Im sure f1 has gained new viewers but I basically have now lost interest in it due to only seeing a few races. Pity.

According to this page, that is not the case. You can still get the F1 channel as long as you subscribe to the the HD package.

If you dont want to subscribe to the HD package, you can still get the F1 channel by subscribing to the Sky sports package.

I would have thought that sky would keep it free with the HD package, as long as the BBC has half the races live. Sky will more than likely only change once the BBC loses all its races.

You can blame the BBC for sky getting F1. I am not sure how many new viewers F1 would have gained by F1 going behind a pay wall. More than likely it would have lost viewers.

The BBC are reporting the speculated Mclaren/Honda deal is going ahead in 2015. Slightly worried by how excited I am about this...

Same here. I think F1 is on the up now, with Mercedes vs Honda vs Ferrari vs Renault on the cards for 2015.

Yep. I would imagine those in charge of bringing in the new engines will feel this vindicates the decision. The only query I have is why take the engines in 2015, that will mean you have one year with the new Mercedes engines and then switch. Will it take that long for the new engines to be designed?

Oddly enough, I dislocated my wrist the other day which made me think about this.

Thing is, when you're driving a normal car moving the wheel involves moving your forearms and if there's something wrong with your wrist you can just flap your elbows about instead of twisting your wrists.
In a single-seater, however, your arms are pretty immobile and turning the wheel is done almost exclusively with the wrists.

I guess any chance of Kubica returning to F1 (or any single-seater) will depend on how much mobility he still has in his wrist and whether anything can be done to improve it or whether it's all held together by pins and screws which are there forever.

Hmm.....I would have thought the majority of movement is in the elbows, as it is basically an up and down motion, rather than a twisting one and it would be the fingers that would be the key indicator of fitness.

It's the foreams and grip strength which counts most.

Trying to mimic the turning motion in a restricted space with my PS3 wheel, it's more a "move across" motion. And with this, your wrists orientation relative to the wheel is going to stay fixed, so the Radius (that's the two bones in your forearm) twist to do this as your arm moves.

And if that mechanism is damaged, it's going to affect how well you can grip the wheel for a number of reasons.

Grosjean was involved in 8 1st lap collisions last season.....in 15 races

A lot of this was made last season and rightly so. To be fair to Grosjean, he has acknowledged the problem and says he has been working on it. Time will tell.

He is a talented driver, which is why Lotus have kept him on. I hope he can get over his 1st lap problems.

Grosjean will be interesting, will have to wait and see how he tries to take the crashes out of his racing style, will he be less aggressive and therefore slower? or will he be able to keep his pace whilst toning it down? still don't think he's as good as Kimi though, maybe a better qualifier but in races I would back Raikonen 9 times out of 10.

hopefully a cracking season ahead, want to see McLaren avoid the mistakes of last year so Button can be right in the mix, be amazing if Hamilton/Mercedes can compete as well but realistically I think they will still be a bit off the pace till 2014.

Uhuh,

I really wanted to see him do well and his race pace seemed to often be the equal of Raikkonnens.

I've nothing particularly against Raikonnen but I'm convinced that often the main difference between a "good" driver and a "bad" one is simply the quality of their team and car.

I recall, back in the Benetton days, when Ligier was a "sister team" to Benetton, Schumacher went to a Ligier test session to "show them how things are done" and ended up crashing the car while trying to equal Panis' times.

It was good to see a driver who'd previously been booted out of F1 doing as well as a champion but his rash decisions ended up suggesting that there IS more to being a champion than having a heavy right foot.

Really, he needs a season where, even if he loses positions on the first lap, he gets a chance to demonstrate real racecraft and show he's more than a lucky guy who's gotten a seat in an above average car.
