I think the teams more want to win the constructors championship and then the drivers championship.

Personally I fear it's going to end up being very similar to the Alonso Mclaren year again.

So you're saying that you think Ferrari have been doing it wrong for the last few years?

I am saying there is more than one way to win a WDC they are all difficult no one approach is more valid than any other.

Who ever wins at the end of year are ones said to have done everything right on the whole regardless of how they have done it.

I'm not so sure. They could just end up taking valuable points off each other.

Well I'd just like to see Ferrari winning races again any problems that come along with that are good problems.

I agree, anything that interrupts the near-stranglehold on RBRs grip on the titles cannot be a bad thing. Hopefully with the musical chairs of drivers and new engines and rules we'll see a proper fight for the championships next year.

I admire RBRs winning ways but when it becomes the norm it does take a bit of the excitement out of race weekends.

What if Alonso flounces out at Ferrari at the end of the year for pastures new

He will stay for another season at least because there are no other berths available in a top team unless you count the Lotus seat vacated by Kimi.

The Lotus is a very good car, probably the best of the rest. However their financial difficulties could put Alonso off. Then again if he did go there, he would bring Santander (depending on what contract they have with Ferrari), that must worth a few bob.

I cant see him leaving, he will stay for one more season, and then reassess next year. If Ricciardo does have a really bad season, that seat could be available. Mclaren might have got their act together, and be a front runner, so that is a possibility in 2015. Mclaren will get better, however I cant see anyone of those drivers wanting to leave. However the start of 2015 is a long way off, anything can happen next year.

Santander's arrangements are with the constructor, not the driver. Any extra-curricular endorsements are via Ferrari, not arranged directly through Alonso.

Don't forget, Alonso currently has the same contract issues that forced Kimi to spend a year by the pool after leaving Ferrari.

Alonso's still under contract to Ferrari for another 2 years (?) so, unless he's got some get-out clause in his contract or Ferrari just release him from it, he can't just skip off to another team cos he still works for Ferrari.

Interestingly, you kinda wonder whether Ferrari might actually like the idea of this cos, after all, any championship's going to be easier for them to win if Alonso isn't in it at all, driving for another team.

On that note, maybe Ferrari should consider getting Vettel, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Button, Rosberg, Massa and Grosjean under contract and then telling them all to take a year off on full pay so Alonso can win the title?

I mean, they're already spending way more than any other team in order to try and buy a world championship. Might as well do the job properly.

Won't Lotus have more money to spend on the car next year when they will no longer be paying Kimi's wages

Kimi was 'only' on €3mill. Part of that will go to the next driver. So they wont be much left over.

To be honest I am surprised on how 'little' Kimi is on (although he may well get bonuses depending on performance). Massa is on €6mill, Rosberg €11million . Although I can bet Kimi got a nice big rise by signing for Ferrari. If Massa is on €6million, Kimi must be on at least that amount, if not more. I would guess he would be on around €10million mark.

LDM calls for Vettel boos to end.

Thanks to the fans who are fantastic," Montezemolo said at the Frankfurt motor show earlier this week, "but we could have done without the booing of Vettel."

http://mobile.f1today.nl/en/news/onl...s--schumacher/

Wise words from the president. I wonder if they other team principles will be asking their fans to show the required respect for F1's champion.

Only on the Internet not in the grandstands or during the podium.

Someone with access to the corporate Twitter account has used it to make their personal feelings known. I doubt they'll keep their access now (or access to the Lotus factory, Lotus network etc...). Lotus have no reason to feel shafted.

I completely agree with that.

Arguably this situation was caused due to poor management by Eric Boulier and the Lotus hierarchy. Considering such an Outstanding comeback season Kimi had last year surely Lotus should have offered him a contract extension until 2015 then they would have not been in this mess now. Secondly Lotus should have been paying Kimi's wages in on time most people in general hate receiving their wages late (including millionaires) with Kimi stating "Obviously you want your salary when you work". They should have got their financial situation sorted out during the off season they are top 5 team so I doubt it would be impossible to find decent sponsors. Eric Boulier's public comments and attitude this season such as "were fighting for 2nd" or "the gap to Vettel isn't getting any smaller but the battle behind Seb is tight" probably had a big influence in Kimi leaving. Yes realistically Lotus and Kimi wasn't going to win the constructors and DWC this season. But Kimi was in the hunt for DWC all season (Until the end of the Monza GP) Boulier should have been delivering more positive messages to the team, and the media. Clearly fighting for 2nd isn't good enough for Kimi as he stated "We've won races, two in two years" (ironically laughing). The final straw was when Massa left Ferrari, they wanted to announce his replacement imminently Lotus could not provide Kimi the reassurances that they would sort out their financial situation and they were making decent progress with their engine for next year, so he left. All these points clearly show that Lotus messed things up for themselves.

TBH, I have a lot of respect for the down-to-Earth way that EB seems to run the team.

No idea how it's going behind the scenes, with regard to the financing etc, but I think that F1 could do with more team bosses who act like he seems to.

Interesting story on the BBC.

Now all we need is to hear that Hamilton's going to replace him and certain people would be looking for a tall building to throw themselves off.

If that ever happens, I will be burning my McLaren's red baseball cap. How they could even consider courting that little backstabbing turncoat, I will never, ever be able to fathom.

But saying that, It will never be true unless EJ says it is so.

Hamilton isn't going anywhere. You would expect though that if Alonso were to leave Ferrari would move heaven and earth to get Vettel in the car. I can't see this merry-go-round happening until 2015, though. Next season is going to see such a state of flux that any driver who moves now is taking a big gamble (unless you simply want to get paid).

Hamilton won't go to Ferrari, at least not next year. And I can't really see McLaren ditching Perez after just a year, he's not doing too badly. I think Alonso will stick out one more year at Ferrari then all the moving will happen in 2015. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back at McLaren then.
