Sorry about the F in Fog.

Tay fook?

Session delayed cos fog means Medical helo' can't take off and then, after the session is underway, it's red-flagged cos the f**king helo' isn't actually there at all!

*EDIT*

Blimey, Merc' now saying that when they arrived in Austin they discovered that Hamilton had "quite a severe" crack in his car chassis which came from Abu Dhabi and seem to think it may have been there throughout the Abu Dhabi event.

Possibly occurred during his quali' off and nobody noticed it until now?

Button handed a 3 place grid penalty for "overtaking under red-flag conditions" during the helicopter fiasco this morning.

Also, marshals making a complete pig's ear of recovering Chilton's car after it stopped on track in FP2.

Everyone's getting excited about Magnussen then. I remember when his dad was labelled the next Ayrton Senna having won 14 out of 18 F3 races and he didn't do all that much in F1. We'll see.

Nice to see HK step into the Lotus and go as fast as you would have expected Kimi to have been. I hope he carries this speed on through the rest of the weekend.

I remember watching Jan back in the day and he really did look that good. Had he applied his talent correctly then he would have been up there.

Kevin seems to have his head switched on. I asked him (politely) if he knew what mistakes his Dad made upon his step up a few months ago and he was very candid in his reply as to how he would approach it differently.

I wanted Jan to be up there as he was also a decent bloke to chat to in the paddock; hopefully Kevin can give the Magnussen name the success it deserves.

Lurch confirming he's a bit demented by accusing Williams of sabotaging his car during quali'.
Obviously, Williams would rather spite him than consolidate 9th in the championship or, based on today's performance, possibly even chase after 8th and receive the money that'd yield.

A number of teams seeing one driver screw up quali' while the other driver does pretty well.
Decent job by Kovalainen. Certainly didn't embarrass himself or Lotus.

*EDIT*

Apparently Kimi has tweeted to Kovalainen "Good luck. You'll need it".
Yeah, real classy Kimi.

I'm pretty sure Kimi isn't on twitter, so I doubt he tweeted that.

Maldonado is a cretin.

And Rosberg has shown himself up as a right old whinger.

Anyone hoping Vettel will give a race win back to Webber should both Red Bulls be up the front near the end? It may be cheating racing fans but I feel Seb owes Mark one still for disobeying team orders at Sepang.

It doesn't seem that long ago that Jan was racing in F1. Makes me feel suddenly old!

Trouble is, that kinda requires that Webber end up in at least 2nd position after the last round of pitstops and, sadly, that's rarely the case.

Also, I guess it'd depend how it was engineered.
Vettel's not the most subtle guy around and if he takes it upon himself to slow down going up the hill in Brazil, I can see Webber just slowing down behind him rather than accepting the proverbial "charity f**k".

Yeah bad stuff from Williams I would have expected this during the Patrick Head era.

I suppose they are bitter PDSV running away might cause them to go in to liquidation. It was fairy dirty money so it kind of serves them right.

Securing 9th in the championship thats bare better than Marussia and Cateram trying to do the most P13 finishes to secure virtual last while never scoring a point.

Cool Hamilton might not start. I see he has a red helmet given up trying to be Senna and trying to be Schumacher now.

Mercedes monkeying around with Hamilton's brakes on the grid again.

Wonder if they're genuinely fixing a problem or whether they've found a way to (legally, of course ) alter the brake set-up between quali' and the race in some way?

*EDIT*

I can see some teams doggedly insisting on sticking to a one-stop strategy and, as a result, ending up going terribly slowly prior to their stop due to the warm weather.

That's it then another win for Vettel.

Seems like, perhaps, some teams are being a little bit timid with strategy. Maybe be better to have decided to go for a 2-stop earlier on and then race harder for longer.

This race is really sending me to sleep. There have been some really great overtakes but that aside, the race is predictable as ever.

Kind of a textbook example of a race that was all about tyre wear rather than anything else.
They all, basically, just drove for 2 hours at a whatever pace allowed their tyres to last.
Could have pretty much achieved the same result by testing all the cars on a rolling road that had sandpaper glued to the rollers and seeing which one completed 200 miles quickest.

Nice to see Bottas score some points so that Lurch can't keep banging on about "scoring all Williams' points".

*EDIT*

Just looking at the results...
I think Vettel has scored enough points, by himself, to have won RBR the constructors championship without any help from Webber.

Surely Vettel is doing down as the GOAT of this sport?

At least the BBC think so.

Kept banging on about it? Not on the programme they didn't. They mentioned it slightly after the event and that the stewards were not investigating it, once in the paddock/sky pad, and once when Ted Kravitz spoke to a Ferrari representative who confirmed it was slippery flags. It's not like it was constant mentions throughout the programme.

I've not paid extra especially for F1 - I already subscribed to Sky Sports and Movies pack from Virgin Media, therefore I don't have to justify the cost, and I still maintain that having a dedicated channel and the staff that they have, Sky have a much better offering than the BBC, by far. The problem that the BBC has is that they have to keep lots of people happy, and if, such as happened last year, a race is red flagged in the middle, they have to shuffle everything around, delay programmes, move it onto other channels, and therefore are limited with the amount of coverage they can bring. I missed half of the 2011 Canadian GP last year (exceptional circumstances, I know), because the BBC shifted coverage from BBC1 to BBC2 and my recorder couldn't deal with that. If that were to happen on Sky, it would simply continue on the same channel.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Martin Brundle is the best commentator for F1 at the moment, after the great Murray Walker (learned from the best). Alongside David Croft who is also pretty good, the commentary on Sky is second to none.

Johnny Herbert and Damon Hill have more personality than David Coulthard in my opinion, and Eddie Jordan needs to stop... well... talking.

The BBC also had VT's when they had full coverage, remember...

I'm not anti-BBC by any means. The 2010 and 2011 season coverage was absolutely fantastic, but they've been pipped this year by an outfit who specialise in Sport broadcasting, and it shows.”

Sorry but I think that I must be watching different coverage as far as I'm concerned I much prefer the BBC coverage, with F1 forum, including Eddie Jordan's insight & comments and the added views of Gary Anderson. I would not mind losing David Coultard whose bias towards Red Bull is too much,I'm surpised that he does lick the boots of Sebastian Vettel and Christian Horner. I must admit that I am losing some of my interest in F1 with the utter dominance of Red Bull.
Does anybody else agree with me that if Alonso or Hamilton were driving for Red Bull they would have acheived as musch as Vettel.
I just hope that next season is more competitive - please.

A couple of things:-

1) This thread is about the actual racing. There's a separate thread in the broadcasting forum that deals with that stuff.

2) Why are you quoting stuff about last year's Brazil race?
