FWIW, HERE is Hamilton's first column for the BBC.

Nothing much of substance but I see he's chosen to briefly mention that he's now working with Nikki Lauda.
Saw Lauda talking to Hamilton during quali' yesterday and thought that must have been a bit "awkward" given some of Lauda's previous comments about LH.

Anyway, onto quali'...

So, we are about to have our second first quali of the year. Still a bit wet apparantly. Rosberg for pole maybe?
Hoping for a surprise from either Lotus or Mercedes but I can't see past Red Bull, really looking forward to it either way.

I always found it hilarious how Hamilton went from 'mad' to 'the best driver in F!'

Here we go!

Wrong decision by McLaren to try dry tyres.

Hamilton at risk of inheriting Schuey's role as the guy Rosberg continues to embarrass.

When he said he wanted to emulate Schumi, I don't think that's what he meant

Why is Perez on slicks. And he is out. ****s sake Mclaren.

Hope Nico H gets through.

Perez out of Q2.

Pretty sure the only reason they tried options was cos they knew they wouldn't be able to compete on equal terms.

Reading between the lines you can see why Hamilton left them. They just keep on making mistake after mistake.

And unless they improve a great deal, I can't see Button being with them next year. He was very tight lipped this morning but you could tell he wasn't happy with the car they had given him to drive.

Gah,

Damp quali' is going to ruin the interest in the race cos it means they'll be able to qualify on inter's and then fit primes for a dry start.

Was looking forward to seeing a bunch of people using options for Q3 and then being forced to pit within a couple of laps.

Button was P4. With the wet conditions Perez should have made it if he was on the right tyres. Button clealy knew it was too wet after about five seconds, so why they sent Perez out with another set and then didn't bring him back in again is beyond me.

Disapointed Nico Hulkenberg just missed out as well. Not a good quali for Sauber either.

How long is Button contracted for? If his contract is up at the end of the year maybe Ferrari will take a look again, otherwise I think he'll stick around at Mclaren. It is frustrating though.

On the plus side, Vettel may not be able to just run away with the victory.

Who is going to volunteer to tell Raikkonen that he screwed up?

Thinking about it, I'm not entirely sure it's wise to fit the options cos, if it's a dry race, that means they're locked into them for the start.

Might have been better to accept a quali' position of 5th or 6th and retain the flexibility of tyre choice for the start.

I guess it's one of those things where, once a couple of people do it, everybody has to follow suit.

Well, Rosberg's dominance at Merc' doesn't seem to have lasted long. Only about 2 quali' sessions.

Mclaren have shot themselves in the foot with Perez. And then shot themselves in the head with Button. He now starts 10th on used super-softs having done more laps on them than the others. Well done Mclaren. Well done.

Massa ahead of Alonso too.

Not like Massa just happened to be behind Alonso on a drying track either.

"Felipe is faster than you. Can you confirm that you understand?"

Did Croft just say 'we'd never make it as a racing driver'. I would love to have seen Martin Brundle's face...

I suppose Perez will say that he was just doing what he was told but, let's face it, he wasn't close to Button when they were on the same tyres either.

I suspect Perez's main job at McLaren is probably to bankroll Button's title campaign.
