Maybe Lewis' fan boys should wind their necks in. Why can't people like you accept that given the nature of the sport things happen to machinery that ruin your chances.

I mean, it's all very well saying "Mercedes want to win the constructors championship so they'd never sabotage Hamilton's car" or "Why would a team pay Hamilton millions and then damage his car so he couldn't win" and that's all probably very true.

It also completely ignores the possibility of a single individual who's a Rosberg supporter doing naughty things to Hamilton's car.
And also, dare I say it, there's always the possibility of somebody in the Merc' garage having the sort of political views which mean he finds the idea of a black guy beating a "pure aryan" unthinkable.

To be clear, I really can't believe that sort of stuff would happen, or I'd like to think that is the case, at least.
I just think it's a bit narrow-minded to dismiss the "conspiracies" based solely on whether it's likely that Merc', as a team, would indulge in such antics.

On that note, as well, although it's probably (hopefully) completely unfounded, I suspect that, as a black guy in a sport filled with white people, and in a German team, there probably are some rather dark thoughts in the back of Lewis' mind at times, which can't be helping things.”

Shameful post, utterly shameful. Implying racism exists and is the reason Hamilton's car has had issues is absolutely pathetic.

Maybe those who [i]aren't "Lewis' fan boys" should realise that there's nothing wrong with lamenting a driver's run of bad luck, and wind their own necks in?

And maybe those people should also read posts fully, including the bit where I clearly said that I can't believe it's possible but that they're the sort of thoughts that are likely to be going through Hamilton's head.

Oh dear. Perhaps you should accept that a quail/race ending mechanical failure that has happened in one out of two races for Hamilton, compared to one out of eleven for his team mate quite upsetting. Perhaps you should wind your neck in a little rather than jumping up and down over peoples disappointment that a driver is suffering regular mechanical issues that could probably have been avoided.

As Jackie Stewart put it; I don't believe in bad luck. I believe in a lack of preperation.

Like it was always the one Red Bull last year?

It was Mark Webber's car that always had the problems.

Now this year Seb Vettel seems to have taken over the 'Webber car' and having the bad luck, and Ricciardo has the Vettel model!!

It'll be tough for Lewis to get any major points given the way the track is like. This season is becoming more and more like Raikkonen's 2005 season - a car which is very fast but also seems very very fragile in Hamilton's hands.”

I was thinking more of Häkkinen's 1997 season, where he just couldn't seem to catch a break, then all of a sudden it started working for him (albeit a little late for that year) and set him up for two WDCs on the trot.

But then, a DNF for Rosberg (not an impossibility, given Mercedes reliability issues) would help enormously.

What did I miss?

Still...doesn't make it any easier to bare. Lewis in my view, has been the better driver all season with Nico not being in the lead on merit.”

Nico is a very capable and competent driver (and probably deserves the success he is achieving), but I agree, Lewis is the better, more aggressive, competitive and entertaining driver.

I remember the bad old day of the nineteen nineties and beyond. It was common for as few as six cars, out of a field of twenty, to finish a race. Back in the mid-nineties, at Monaco, only three finished; giving Olivier Panis the greatest achievement of his Formula One career. In the Early noughties even, it was common for a driver to only finish four or five races out of eighteen. It wasn't until the last ten years or so, that reliability improved, to the extent where it is now unusual to see more than six cars not finishing a race. In some races (although rare) we are now seeing no retirements at all.

Max Chilton has only failed to finish once, out of nearly thirty races. Virtually unheard of for a rookie.

I'm a bit confused, are you implying racism doesn't exist?

I was thinking the very same thing. I commented as much to Nessun13, as we were watching the last few races, that it seems as thought the ghost of Webber is watching over Ricciardo and haunting Vettel.

I have suggested before that it only takes one crew member doing a small job slightly differently to make a difference even if they are doing it absolutely by the book but the book has overlooked this potential for variation. For example, how they are holding the torque wrench.

So, sudden downpour just before the start leaves things kind of up in the air.

Big pile-up at the start, leaving the way clear for Lewis and Kimi to rack up some decent points?

Hamilton loses it in turn 2, with cold brakes.

Kinda makes you wonder, just 'cos a car is starting from the pit-lane, why shouldn't it be able to participate in the formation lap and then pull back into the pits for the start?

Seems like a bit of a double-punishment to have a car start in the pit-lane and then stop them warming the car during the formation lap as well.

Ooooh,

Quite a bit of smoke coming from the back of Rosberg's car while following the safety-car.
