"Yeah, Lewis, just sit behind him until the end and hope for the best"
"Nah, I think I'll actually race for the lead instead"

The idea of a single team-strategist for both cars seems a bit dubious to me.
After all, if the Merc's are running 1-2, what's the motivation to come up with a strategy that'll allow one driver to overtake the other?”

I think that's kind of the point. You can race your team mate in qualifying and in the pit-stops but not on the track as the team cannot afford to risk sacrificing both their cars.

If it stays the same til the end, it cuts Roseberg's lead by 7 points:

Current standing

Roseberg 220
Hamilton 191
Dif 29

Hamilton/Roseberg 1/2

Roseberg 238
Hamilton 216
Dif 22

Lots of off-track action in this race!

Probably nice for the team but it can't do much for the driver's confidence if you're never sure if you're being given information which is in your best interests or the team's and, as a result, is actually favouring the other guy over you.

Good race though.
Terrific the way DR blew past Vettel without any problems and Kvyat did an amazing job of holding onto the car at the end.
Nice to see Massa on the podium too.

Worth bearing in mind that people keep on going on about the fact that there's 50 points available in the last race but we should remember that it's double points for everybody so Hamilton's going to want to be within 13 points of Rosberg (if not leading him) to ensure he can still take the WDC by winning in Abu Dhabi.

Yes, working out the points at the end will be even more complicated than usual this year. The calculations and combination of positions needed will be a nightmare.

Oh lordy!

I really like EJ but if he really thinks Merc' might have ordered Rosberg to miss the chicane a couple of times, he needs to put down the crack-pipe.
I can only assume he was asking that question on behalf of all the rather, erm, "suspicious" people out there.

Gotta say, I still think you have to give Vettel credit for being the guy who could make the most of the cars that he had at the time but I can't help thinking that, unless RBR build another car which really suits Vettel in particular, he's going to end up in the strange position of being a 4x WDC who kinda "fades away".

Just waiting for the usual suspects telling us how dirty it was of Hamilton to ignore his teams "orders" and stay 2.5 seconds behind Nico.

Hamilton making a lot of sense in his BBC interview, saying that he realised that he had a better chance of out-racing Rosberg while his tyres were new rather than just waiting and hoping that Rosberg's tyres would die at the end.

Glad to see Lewis making noises like that. Seems like one of his biggest weaknesses was that he relied on the team too much so it's good to see that he's making decisions for himself now.

Well it does make sense as it gives him two bites at the apple: Gain all he can from his new tyres AND hope that Nico's tyres die at the end.

Take advantage whilst you can as who knows what the future may hold. It's silly giving up work before you have won the lottery.

I think he will be back next year, hes been quick at times this year and im sure the car will be tweaked next near to suit his style.

It wasn't a journalist but rather Adam Parr who was quite high up at William for a number of years.

Not sure I like the idea of 8 teams with 3 cars, although it should mean a lot closer racing as some of the teams are just too slow for F1

Was talking to wife at the time and missed who tweeted, took gamble who it was.

Thanks for clarifying

Can't help feeling that Rosberg's going to blow up these last few races. There's already numerous signs the pressure is getting to him, and the booing on the podium was another little niggle that will play on him these next two weeks.

Hamilton is clearly the superior driver by far and Rosberg knows, Hamilton knows, we all know, it's only through sheer luck he finds himself where he is. That must be a strain mentally at the business end of the season, when the real pressure starts.

Weak management!”

The former wasn't that far away from what Ricciardo's engineer did say when the next one ahead of him was Vettel
