Rosberg looks like Cameron Diaz. He's very pretty.

Disproportionate retribution is at work here. Like I said Rosberg has become the big bad hated enemy after one clash with his team the entire season so far, and his season has gone down the toilet both in terms with his career and his public image. One clash, that's all it took. How are Mercedes going to apologize to him now after screwing him over?

Do people really love Ayrton Senna like I'm lead to believe? Surely he must be reviled for his tactics on the 1989 and 1990 Japanese Grand Prix.

Were you not watching F1 in those days?

Senna was viewed in much the same way, just as Schuey was after him.
He was really despised by those who weren't his fans and loved by those who were.

Not sure Rosberg has yet achieved that level of divisiveness but, y'know, when you cock it up and claim you did it deliberately, you're hardly likely to endear yourself to people.

The championship is so hard to call. It is fantastic to see 2 team mates take things this close.

The only disappointment would be if the double points thing is what wins the championship as it is bulls**t imo even if it is official.

Gotta say, I'd be interested to hear the reasoning behind that theory.

I mean, whenever these type of things crop up, there's usually some theory behind it all which does, kinda, make sense, even if you don't believe it.

Like with the whole "Mercedes are sabotaging Hamilton's car" thing, it's almost certainly nonsense but the idea that somebody at Merc' might want to force out a Brit' driver so that there's a seat for Vettel kind of makes a bit of sense, sort of. Possibly.
To be clear, I can't see it myself but I can understand the reasoning that'd lead people to that opinion.

I can't really see how that works with the Kimi thing though.
Seems like Ferrari have been doing their best to help Alonso to a WDC for the last few years and, for this year, they've abandoned that idea in favour of hoping that two top drivers would net them enough points for a Constructor's championship even if neither of them won the WDC.
What's the benefit of nobbling Kimi?
Is there somebody waiting in the wings to take over his seat? Is there some reason why they might want to make Alonso look good at Kimi's expense? Is there some reason why they might want to finish 4th rather than 3rd in the Constructor's championship? Was it part of some great conspiracy to make the F1 team look bad and get Montezuma fired?

I can't see any reason (however implausible) for this idea.

It's just mad fans trying to save face coz their favourite isn't performing, surely.

There are only two drivers I have ever seen booed on the podium - Shoemaker and Rosberg.

Vettel has been boo'd quite often over the last couple of years, particularly after Multi 21.

Anybody know what happened during Massa's first pit stop? The left-rear spanner man, walked over and belted the right-hand spanner man around the head.

I think the radio rule doesn't come into effect until Suzuka

I think Lewis experienced that little vagary a little sooner than Rosberg has.

It does seem that the Merc is more unreliable than other cars and it would be a huge shame if the DC was decided by that factor and not on-track results.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

As Lauda is so fond of saying, Hamilton really does seem to enjoy doing things the hard way so maybe Merc' are catering to that need?

I suppose it was a fairly sound strategy really; they knew he was much faster on the options and that he'd be on fresh primes at the end when everybody else would be on shagged primes.

S'funny though, the "conventional wisdom" in F1 seems to be that a driver should always be using the fastest tyre available, which means always running options first and then primes at the end and that seems a little "blinkered" to me.

This year, particularly, the Merc' has enough of an advantage that if I was their race strategist I'd be thinking about telling them to run flat-out from the start, build a gap then switch to primes, run a stint on the primes to get them out of the way and, thus, leave yourself with free tyre choice for the rest of the race.
Seems like that'd create more flexibility, especially at races where a SC is likely.

Hamilton has been on the receiving end all season. Finally, he's had a gremlin go his way.

Just saw this report

An overheating car beneath Magnussen resulted in the Dane's lower back sustaining minor burns, while the liquid in his fluids bottle boiled and became undrinkable.

At one stage during the safety car period Magnussen could be seen raising his arms outside of the cockpit, one at a time, in a bid to get cooling air behind him, but in temperatures of 28 degrees centigrade it was to no avail.

Despite the problems, Magnussen managed to cross the finishing line at the Marina Bay street circuit in 10th place to collect McLaren's only point as Jenson Button retired eight laps from home.

After being checked over at the track medical centre, Magnussen then lay on a towel filled with ice in order to relieve the pain.

Wow, how fit they must be

I remember on 5Live they said that Magnussen was complaining about the heat and maybe the rookies would struggle. In hindsight he probbably did a better job than most!

They were telling him over the radio to drink the water, and he was telling them he couldn't as it was burning his mouth.

Perhaps there is technology to allow the pit to replace or replenish the drinks bottle during a stop?

Or better still, stop the bloody thing from boiling.
