Saw the safety car crash once in WTCC a few years back when it crashed into one of the race cars (actually the race car crashed into the safety car).

Red flag during the 2nd lap and the race is suspended due to treacherous conditions

Thanks

Could see something similar here with Lewis' comments that he couldn't see Rosberg in front of him. Must be the same for Nico with the safety car as well I guess

I think the problem with that crash was that the safety car came out of the pits too late and too close to the race cars as they crossed the start finish line.

Race re-started and Alonso completes a weekend to forget by retiring almost straight away

The safety car should be a peddalo.

What are Mercedes playing at? There is no need to take risks when you are this dominant, Hamilton should have pitted several laps ago.

Think the WDC is done now. It will be a miracle if Rosberg somehow wins. Hamilton's just better and that's it.

Even assuming Rosberg doesn't go on a great run of form, all it would take is one retirement for Lewis especially with double points at the final race. It's not over and it wouldn't need a miracle.

Yeah I was thinking that excluding retirements, that's what Rosberg needs though. If its down to pure racing skill, there's only one winner. Hamilton has the beating of him everytime.

Hope Sutil is ok... I'm slightly worried now.

Looks like Sutil is OK but it's Bianchi that the ambulance is treating

Race has been Red flagged and will not be resumed

Hope he's OK

Same here ..... they seem to have ignored the situation of Sutil and concentrating on who won etc, which in the grand scale of things, who cares, if there is a guy injured on the track.

Well, not a fan of races that end like this 'cos it's always a bit hit & miss as to who's in what position when there's a red flag.
Hamilton did the job on-track though. Rosberg just couldn't touch him.
Shame Vettel seems to have lost a podium by stopping for wets the lap before the race was stopped.
Great driving by Button too. Rain really shows you who the skilled drivers are.

Kimi still doing a thoroughly unremarkable job.

Oh... just heard that Vettel is being classified 3rd.

Vettel does gets third on count back.

Don't think Sutil is injured.

Unless I'm mistaken, it seems that Bianchi went off in the same corner and hit the telehandler that was removing Sutils car.

Not just that though - today is a mental kicking of Rosberg. If he recovers from this (without Hamilton having reliability issues) then he really will deserve to be World Champion but I can't see that happening.

From Twitter

Sutil has reported that Bianchi hit the tractor sideways on

The BBC say both Bianchi and Sutil are away from the crash site but medics are still there.

I really hope a marshal hasn't been hit but it's increasingly likely.

Also from twitter

@Dynastyni: OMG RT @alonso_WDC_2014: Marussia says they heard no reply from Bianchi after his crash. Hugely concerning moments in Suzuka #JapaneseGP #F1

@CarThrottle: According to Sutil, Bianchi crashed into the recovery vehicle at turn seven. He is in the medical centre #F1 #JapaneseGP

@F1_Fans_Updates: #F1 #JapaneseGP FIA has confirmed Bianchi was unconscious and taken to hospital to ambulance because the weather is too bad for helicopter.

Coulthard was just saying that Rosberg has yet to actually finish ahead of Hamilton on any occasion where they've been wheel to wheel on track.

If that's the case, it kinda makes you wonder how come Rosberg has clung onto the championship lead for so long.

While I'm at it, several absolutely stunning moves in S1 by DR. The guy really is a class act.
Hamilton's move on Rosberg was pretty brave too.

Oh go away. Pointless talking about something they have no news about.

Up to Singapore Rosberg was far more consistent in terms of reliability. I do have to wonder whether he can bounce back from this as a racer after that overtake.
