Yes, but it's about winning the constructors' championship, that's where the money comes from, not the drivers' championship.
Without constructors' championship money a fair few drivers wouldn't have a drive as they would need to bring in more sponsorship themselves.
When you've got cars in a guaranteed 1-2 it's nonsensical for them to race so hard for a measly 7 points in a season that's only just begun. And 7 points isn't ever going to be the difference between Vettel and Webber, and Vettel knows that.
So all he was doing was feeding his own ego, and making himself wildly unpopular at the same time, especially as Webber's generally respected on the grid. Vettel's an idiot, and I don't know how anyone can defend what he did today, particularly given his pathetic excuses afterwards.
All he's done is damage his own reputation - it's all very well being a decent driver (though I think he's far from the best on the grid), but if you're not a team player then you might find it very hard to get a drive when the inevitable day comes that your contract ends or your team isn't competitive anymore...
