At the moment we all have no information about how Bianchi was driving and so there is no point speculating to what extent he respected the yellow flags.

In wet conditions the cars can spin regardless of how tentative the drivers are.
That's how I see it TBH.

Old inter's, standing water, poor visibility. Yellow flags mean you've got less downforce and cooler brakes and tyres.
Seems like of of those times when you're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I suppose, if there's any procedural fault it's that, under waved yellow flags, in wet condition, the datum time for the drivers to stick to should have been much, much, lower so that the cars could drive through there (and be capable of stopping safely) using purely mechanical grip.

I think there is a chance Marrucia will only have one car at the next GP.
i was thinking that too, maybe they will not race at all.
but if they do race with two who is their 3rd driver as bbc and sky always go on about top teams the lower ones get very little coverage so you never get to know their staff or other drivers., its all about redbull and hamilton

That sounds like good news.
Let's hope he can make a good recovery.

I've thought about it and I don't see why they should withdraw it only hurts the team if things get worse I would think differently.

I don't think they will rush to replace him out of respect and it would likely be a big challenge to build a new car between fly aways for a team with their resources. Having to do it this close to the end of the season makes it worse to.

Your right about it being a shame that there is often less attention for one end of the grid. Sky were quick to pick up what happened. The BBC were confused about what was happening even after the red flag. It's understandable but Bianchi out was on the race computer but it didn't ping on their radar as hes not a front runner.

At Le Mans this year they implemented safe zones where the cars were speed limited. I don't see why it wouldn't work in F1.

It provides a lot of safety only effects part of the track and is enforceable with few grey areas.

Providing the worst doesn't happen, I think Marussia will race at least one car in Russia. Probably two as its their home race.

What a terrible situation they are in.

Marussia have just signed a new young British driver in Will Stevens so it would be an amazing shock for him to get a drive in Russia.

There other named reserve driver is Alexander Rossi.

So I guess one of those two will race if they are fielding two cars.

Marussia will probably promote a reserve, which would be Alexander Rossi.

Will Stevens doesn't have a Superlicence.

I would not be surprised if Rubens offers to be available.

Actually, I will correct myself. If he doesn't have one, he would be eligible having completed 95 laps of Silverstone in the 2014 YDT. But I don't think he has one and it would be more sense to put Rossi in.

Some details of Bianchi's crash starting to come out. The picture is of Bianchi still in the car which most of us have likely seen by now. There is a video of the crash currently withheld.

Completely OTT and unnecessary. What's the point? It's not as if it's disrespectful or graphic - we didn't actually see the crash live! BBC One has shown the replay and highlights are currently on BBC Three.

I do see the point in what sky have done. Having watched the replay on the BBC it was strange and out of place as they didn't know what was happening at the time and looking back at it with more information made the original presentation look out of context. They added a wrap up filmed later in full view of the facts and Eddie Jordan did a good job speaking nicely about Bianchi as a person and a racing driver.

Credit to sky they exceeded their own standards realising what had happened and being in tune with the seriousness of what had happened. Now they are waiting for events to unfold and take the time to decide how best to treat the material before revisiting it.

Well there was still a Grand Prix. I don't know anyone who would think that replaying the race or showing highlights would be in bad taste. I think it is a very odd decision, and they have obligations to the people who subscribe to their channel.

Yip fair point I wouldn't argue with that. I think they will show the replays eventually. Just remember we don't know the outcome for Bianchi this could still turn out to be the GP weekend we all didn't want to see since a very sad day in 1994. At the very least it could be an event which means a young persons life is never going to be the same again.

Social media isn't really a reliable source of information so just use reputable web sites who are able to quote sources and everything else is speculation or opinion.
