Must say, I'm starting to lose sympathy with these teams.
I mean, seriously, what are they actually trying to
achieve in F1?
Seems like Caterham, for a couple of years, had decent personnel and were actually trying to be competitive.
Marussia, OTOH, never seem to have had any ambitions beyond putting a couple of cars on the grid every race weekend.
It seems like the main motivation for these teams is simply to keep busy, produce
something to put sponsor stickers on and make a few quid for the owners/shareholders.
I wonder if it'd be possible to turn
all the FIA-run formulae into some kind of "league" whereby the teams that finished top of GP2 got "promoted" to F1 and the teams that failed to perform got "relegated"?
Perhaps even the
possibility of this happening would make the junior F1 teams try a bit harder?
I mean, maybe they could implement some system whereby the team that won GP2 was, at least,
offered a slot in F1 each year and the team that did worst in F1 would be kicked out if the GP2 team accepted?
