And what input did the driver have into that?
![]() I seem to recall that, as well as the gaps, pitboards also display messages like "PIT". Jenson's call at pitting in the wet Canadian GP a year or so ago, is a prime example of the driver's taking the decisions, and to win and lose by them. |

Considering the circumstances and the questions to Lewis he has responded very well in a grown up fashion.
In the past I have not liked his 'hound dog poor me' attitude however seems he's grown up. ..... well perhaps he has had PR coaching!! Now Natalie is asking him 'is it really alright' ...... what does she want him to do, chuck something against a wall and stamp his feet? It happened, he can't change it, so he has accepted it, unlike the Sky lot. That Simon is seriously irritating. ![]() It's quite telling he said he is a WDC and so has to act like one. Clearly he doesn't really want to act like one which is why he was doing all he could to be late to the podium. Two people carriers had to force his car around to the podium. |

Is that sarcasm as well?
Seems like Rosberg built a gap over Hamilton when it was Hamilton who was stuck behind Vettel, in just the same way that the reverse happened earlier on. As a Ferrari fan it might be difficult to grasp, but not all teams use their following driver to protect the leading car. |

I don't think Ted Kravits really beleives what Totto is saying.

My point was that it left the driving, and the decisions, to the drivers.
Jenson's call at pitting in the wet Canadian GP a year or so ago, is a prime example of the driver's taking the decisions, and to win and lose by them. Trouble is that F1 is far more complex than that these days. In this case for example, aside from the gap to the following car, a leading driver has no way of knowing what all the other teams are planning to do. Hamilton doesn't know if all the other teams have mechanics ready to fit options so he has to rely on his team's guidance to ensure he's on a level-footing with the opposition. Course, in this case, it could also be argued that if every other car on the circuit had decided to fit options, Hamilton could probably still have defended his track-position at Monaco. |

Well due to hamilton acting all grown up in the interview natalie is confussed by this out of character behaviour and asking what he really thinks.

Two people carriers had to force his car around to the podium. He is trying though, to pull the PR line, which is very difficult for him as a person to do, but he is at least trying. |

So what youre trying to tell me is that the gap Hamilton built up before the safety car was down to just traffic? Not that Hamilton was just quicker
Hamilton had something like a 5 second lead early on in the race and he'd extended that to about 9 seconds by the time they'd all cleared the first back-markers. I guess the driver deserves some credit for his ability to get past quickly but it's pretty obvious that a car in clear air is going to be faster than a car in traffic, regardless of who's behind the wheel. |

You mean that Toto needs a calculator! They have sat on the pit wall all week seeing those cars go round and round and round, analysing to a 1000th of a second, then they say they were 3.5 seconds out on their 'maths'.
It is a bit of an hilarious excuse!! ![]() All that technology and yet any layman was probably thinking "Well, a minute ago you thought you could get to the end on those tyres so what's changed?" If this was a circuit with a long lap, plenty of opportunities to overtake and some decent corners it might've been a smart call but at Monaco it was just plain daft. |

They all had to go through the same traffic. Hamilton just had more out right pace today. The whole 18 second gap wasnt made up entirely of just traffic.
Remember that Rosberg & Vettel gained on Hamilton when he went through traffic so it all equaled out Quali', last year, seemed to suggest that Rosberg actually had a bit more pace whereas Hamilton had more racecraft. This year, however, Hamilton seems to have become more comfortable on the brakes and seems to be doing okay in quali' too. |

Course, there's always the possibility that Hamilton is simply a bit faster than Rosberg.
Quali', last year, seemed to suggest that Rosberg actually had a bit more pace whereas Hamilton had more racecraft. This year, however, Hamilton seems to have become more comfortable on the brakes and seems to be doing okay in quali' too. |

It is a bit of an hilarious excuse!! ![]() The thing is with the Safety Car delta that came in the leaders have almost always got an easy free stop as others can't do any extra pace to catch up. Normally the leader is back on track before the others have pitted as the SC then holds everybody else up further passing it etc. I think Mercedes just thought automatically that they get a free pass before they even looked at the maths then they looked at old figures and confirmation bias took over. |

Sad to see Hamilton not going in the team picture a wee bit imature and not sporting of him.
How hard would it be for him to sit there a smile for Niccos good luck. And of course the important thing is that the team he claims to want to lead still won. |

Either way Hamilton was very unlucky today
The weekend proved again really that Nicco can't really beat Hamilton. Nicco won't get this lucky all season. So it is still an easy WDC from hear for Lewis. |

Been very boring for the last 2 years, his hatred for the black Brit is pretty disgusting from a very immature little boy
This year, unfortunately, it seems that he's decided that there's some consolation to be had from making baseless disparaging comments on an internet forum. |
