I'm glad it rained, it spiced it up and Hamilton couldn't have timed his switch to inters better. Mercedes may decide their old clutch was better.

No idea why Hamilton is being criticised for living in Monaco, most GP drivers past and present, British or not, lives/lived there or Switzerland or some other low tax country.
Yes a great call, you should have heard Luffield grandstand groan in disbelief when the big screen showed him going into the pits, it wasn't raining that hard there, though they were struggling to put any power down, but we could see Rosberg visible catching him, then we saw Rosberg go in, Hamleton had made up 18secs by then and the grandstand just erupted when Hamleton came into view in first place.

A damn good race, it had everything.....

Furthermore I am sure I read somewhere that the drivers have to pay tax in each country they race in or something like that.
I think it could be something like that because I believe a country will basically not get a GP if they don't give a tax exemption to F1.

Wasn't one of the issues with the Indian GP the fact that there are millions in their country in complete poverty struggling to live, women being sold for 75p a time and then all these millionaire F1 drivers turned up demanding to pay no tax.

All these super rich sport people who don't pay tax are a disgrace regardless of the country they come from.

F1 in general isn't paying it's tax bill.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...t-8728928.html

300 million in profit and only 1 million paid in tax as the group loans money to it's self and the interest they pay their selves is deducted from the tax.

Meanwhile we have food banks.

I think you might be thinking of the Olympics (where a specific law had to be passed to exempt the earnings of foreign Olympians while they were here from tax). There is no equivalent exemption for F1, at least not in the UK and our Government would be very unlikely to give them such an exemption just to keep the British GP.

If they didn't borrow the money intra-group, they would only have to borrow it from a bank so they would still end up incurring the same amount of interest and therefore still make the same profit and therefore pay the same amount of tax.

If they consolidated the group then they wouldn't have to make the loans. Or they could mot charge themselves interest.

It is an arangement created just to avoid tax.

Never understood Hamilton's popularity, maybe if their where more black drivers we wouldn't see so many glory supporters and celebs jumping on the bandwagon, the last british driver I felt any connection and national pride towards was Damon, now I just support Williams and feel no national pride or favouritism.
In recent years I've supported drivers based more on their temperament and sportsmanship rather than nationality which seems to come more from Finnish and Japanese drivers.

I'm not sure his skin colour has any relevance, certainly not in the way you are suggesting. Yes, because he's from an ethnically mixed background he crosses boundaries and maybe he's widened the popularity of the sport but the recent poll of F1 fans shows he's far from the most popular driver on the grid. He's not even the most popular British driver, but then there seems to be a strong correlation between popularity and experience (Kimi, Fernando & Jenson being the three most popular and experienced drivers). I think the media are just making the most of a Brit dominating the sport for more than a single season for the first time since Jackie Stewart more than 40 years ago.

Lewis is undoubtedly attractive commercially though, especially in N America. I guess he's analogous to Tiger Woods, the young hot shot who conquers a sport not usually associated with his demographic.

I suppose but I expect the same response once we get a successful women driver too, I mean how many black celebs break the mold and say that they support a white driver? it's the same in tennis with Serena and Venus.

So we've got this raft of changes to F1 that the Strategy Group has put forward (some of which the FIA passed last week) to come into effect between Spa this season and 2017. Most seem rather wishy-washy to me like the freedom of tyre choice and larger fuel allowance, neither of which will actually improve the racing I suspect as most of the teams are so good at strategy these days that they'll all go for the same tyres and continue to short-fuel anyway.

The most intriguing is the changes to the race weekend format. No news what they are actually proposing although there's rumors the qualifying format may be changed (hope not). I'd like to see a sprint race on the Saturday with a reverse grid taken from qualifying. Not sure what points should be awarded, though.

jules was never going to recover, if someone is in a coma that long they are never going to wake up and be the same if he did wake up he would be a vegtable.

they should let schumacher die, he is just a vegtable now. 99.9% of brain injuries people never recover, would you like to live the rest of your life as a vegtable?

Except Schumacher came out of his coma unlike Bianchi. You're welcome to try putting a pillow over his head if you so wish. But back on topic, it's all very sad. Another talented individual passing before their time.
