Ferrari throwing their toys out of the pram..

Quote:
“Ferrari say they could consider their future in Formula 1 if the rules change in ways they do not like.

President Sergio Marchionne said quitting was "possible but very, very unlikely", adding: "Ferrari would find other ways to express its ability to race and to win.

"Ferrari cannot be put in a corner on its knees and say nothing."”

There's about as much chance of me getting a drive in F1 as there is of Ferrari quitting. It's just the usual political bullshit.

So ... Ad breaks next year, then, for us free-to-airers.

Quite right to watching a sporting event on free to air TV without adverts is basically content theft.

Hmm. pretty much what I thought, but I didn't like to say owt in case it was an attempt at humour. You know how some peoples sarcastic wit is so deep that it's apparent only to themselves?

Ooh. Channel 4, and no ad breaks during races, apparently. This is better than we could have hoped for. I wonder if it's expecting too much for them to take DC and Lee with them.

I think C4 may be a good fit, actually. They tend to have a different take on things and do sports quite well. I'm not sure how many of the current BBC team they'll take, though.

Channel 4's getting the coverage!?

I guess they'll be looking for someone with no prior knowledge of the sport to give a new, fresh and challenging take on it!

Ortis Deley. Stand by your phone!

Don't complain it's clearly in line with the capitalist principles of our society. If you can't aford something you don't get it. Sport isn't free its profit driven. Most of the people involved in sport are the biggest capitalists going and it is to be celebrated.

2016 is going to be great, another Mercedes year, the return of adverts and who will CH4 inflict on their viewers... Jeremy Clarkson? Everbody deserves a second chance you know.

Some news here - no adverts.

Surprising I wonder if it will last / come to pass.

Sounds a bit like bernie turning a thumb screw and likely wanting more money from CH4 for live coverage with adverts.

John Surtees receives a CBE in the New Years' Honours. He's getting there slowly, first an OBE, now the CBE. Let's hope it's not too long before he gets the Knighthood!

Maldonado out if sponsors don't cough up cash?

Please let it be true, talentless driver, doesn't deserve a seat.

It would seem that Pasta is definitely out of his race seat. Justice is finally restored - his F1 career should been terminated with his lifetime ban at Monaco after injuring that marshal. If not for political pressure from Chavez, his racing career would quite rightly have died right there and then.

Doesn't seem very positive news about Michael Schumacher

F1 great Michael Schumacher's former boss at Ferrari has said the latest news about the German's health "is not good" - but has refused to elaborate.

"I have news and unfortunately it is not good," Luca di Montezemolo told reporters on Thursday..

It's not really news until it's announced, and obviously he has been asked not to. I don't see the point of him making a non-announcement.

Such a shame what happened to him and must be terrible for his family knowing there is nothing they can do and also know that there is pretty much no chance he will ever get better.

Fingers crossed things improve but I have always been worried we are just waiting for the bad news to come through one day, similar to Jules last year
