Didn't see it but sounds like a decent race with drama from the start.

Hamilton will be seething letting Rosbeg win again.

Strong showing from Red Bull again and Grosjean has started well at Haas.

So the qualifying format gonna change again to aggregate times? Haven't we been here before?

and he's too tall for the C4 line up

why not let DC be the lead presenter he has enough experience now

Just seems like a game show host to me.

As mediocre as Jones is he's still way better than Suzi Perry (but then who wouldn't be?)- and her predecessor Jake Humphrey for that matter (again, not difficult).

Overall though C4's coverage is very good, especially for a commercial channel. I think some people are forgetting how bad ITV's coverage was. 20 minutes of every race lost due to ad breaks, and expert analyst Mark Blundell who could barely string 2 incoherent words together. In contrast Eddie Jordan seems like Stephen Fry.

Cringeworthy.
And what was it he called Ricciardo???
"Prince of Australia" or something.
Even Ricciardo said "that was strange".....
The bloke is a grade A prat.

Yes as it is in effect a customer Ferrari. They took as many parts as legally allowed from this years Ferrari.
It will be interesting to see how competitive they are later in the season as I'm not sure that any aero parts will be developed by Ferrari that will end up on the Haas

A race spoilt by Vettel's engine blowing, Bottas causing a collision with Hamilton and Raikkonen's poor start so Rosberg got an easy win. As for qualifying well I think they should place Ecclestone and Todt at random places on the track and whoever runs them both over gets pole.

Lol that would be entertaining.

Finally they've seen sense and reverted back to 2015 qualifying format. Now leave it alone.

Well it looks like they have seen sense but it still need to go to the World Motorsport Council so between now and then, Bernie could change his mind.
He keeps giving mixed messages at the moment like saying he could see the point when the F1 Drivers association released their statement the other week, and then a few days later rubbished the drivers about having a voice.

Interesting turn-around. I wonder if the teams have agreed to some compromise on some other open issue or if Todt / Ecclestone crumbled faced with the united Team front? If the latter it bodes well for the teams going forward as it's a real sign of weakness after all the bluster from Todt and Ecclestone. I think Bernie in particular sees Wurz as a threat and possibly someone who's gunning for his job.

It also helps that Mercedes have looked fallible and that the midfield is so competative so far this season. The races should be naturally more exciting so no actual need to muck things up through qualifying.

F1 doesn't need this meddling. We go through periods of domination and apparent stagnation then things turn around and we get much closer racing. The danger is that mixing the formula up again from next season will ruin it again.

Unless they come up something everyone agrees with then it should be left alone.

Anyone would think there's no junior formulae where they could trial different forms of qualifying before mucking around with F1...

Don;t know why everyone rubbishes Suzi Perry. I thought she was pretty good and often asked pretty pertinent questions. Jake Humphhrey was great too.

Agree with you about ITV though. They regularly ****ed up. Imola in 2005(?) being the most spectacular example (the race where there was that great battle between Fernando Alonso's Bennetton and Michael Schumacher's Ferrari in the latter stages. ITV don;t often do sport well in my opinion.

It was the spaces in between the pertinent questions that I didn't like.
Jake Humphreys was soooo far up himself.
That's my take on it anyway.

And that new bloke is a muppet.

Oh the irony.... J Villeneuve telling F1 drivers to shut up and stop complaining. That guy's got a great sense of humour!

Rumours that Imola might be returning to the calendar. I would be very surprised, though. I suspect it's a move to put pressure on the Monza race promoters to sort themselves out.

Seems like JV has a backer though.

Alonso has been cleared to drive in FP1 tomorrow but will then have further tests afterwards:

Being hit with a five place grid penalty because of a gearbox change hasn't fazed Hamilton. In fact he seems to see it as a positive thing...
Lewis Hamilton regards Shanghai F1 grid penalty as ‘opportunity to rise’

P6 on the grid though not a great place to make a bad start from. Could be on course for more turn one trouble.

I've just seen the drivers press conference - Verstappen, Hulkenburg, Magnussen, Raikkonen and Bottas.

Villeneuve may not have been the most exciting man in the world but these guys make him seem highly eccentric.

A bit of hilarity..17 drivers went out to a restaurant yesterday. Hamilton said he would pay the bill. Others disagreed. In the end, the restaurant had to make 17 bills, and each driver paid his own bill.
