Fantastic drive by Max

Just heard one of the pundits say that this is the 10th different winner of the last 10 Spanish GP's
Would never have guessed that

After the clowning around by the Mercedes boys this excellent drive by Max made up for it. Good to watch and well done to the lad.

Great race - the best for a long time, won by a future all-time great. Huge maturity from Max under enormous pressure. Very lacklustre drive by Raikkonen though - not one single committed attempt to overtake Verstappen.

Ricciardo smiling through gritted teeth. Doesn't know why he was switched to a three stopper. Neither do I.

Can't blame him for being bitter. His handler was trying to shut him up and move him away from the interview. Maybe they should find someone better than Placido Domingo to do the interviews next time. He never shut up.

This kid is too good. He could beat Schumi's records. No wonder though with racing drivers as parents and being stuck in a kart as soon as he came out the womb

Stewards rule racing incident no further action for Hamilton or Rosberg.

Unlucky for Mercedes today. Really enjoyable today to watch some racing for the win without the usual domination.

That was a superb drive Max put in today

I won't rule him out winning in Monaco in two weeks time.

As mediocre Ant and Suzi were in their racer careers, they still have a lot of experience with the ins and outs of driving a F1 car, and what F1 drivers go through. That's why they're hired as colour commentators. Their lack of competitive F1 experience is not really that big an issue.”

But they talk as if they WERE competitive F1 drivers. It's like someone who dances on a Saturday night judging a professional competition. Yes, they can do it after a fashion. But it carries no credibility or respect.

Max is good. Make no bones about it.
But the Mercedes pair self destructing and Ricciardo being switched to a three stopper certainly helped.

Yeah davidson knows all about getting lapped big deal.

Then brundel thinks he is as current as the grid because he does the odd filming day.

They just sound like wannabes.

Well that couldn't have gone much better for Verstappen but he drove really well to take the win. Understandably Ricciardo was not a happy bunny at the decision to switch him to a 3 stopper which proved to be totally the wrong one.

As for the Mercs it looked six of one and half a dozen of the other but Rosberg will be much less bothered about it than Hamilton.

The Mercedes team blame Rosberg for the crash. I bet Lewis is livid, it is becoming a habit with Rosberg.

You making this up, or have you got a link that I can read that says Merc blame Rosberg. From what I have read, they havent apportioned blame.

For me, its more Hamiltons fault than Rosbergs. Either way, the stewards class it as a racing incident, so no blame on either driver. Which is fair enough.

Well done to Verstappen. Great win for him. Guess people will hopefully now not questions his promotion to RB.

I quite like Ricciardo, but his interview was (slightly) out of order. Saying 99% of the drivers dont try to overtake, whilst he does. Sounds like c rap to me. His one attempt on Vettel was poor. He overshot his braking point and had to brake hard to make the corner, whilst almost causing a collision. Hardly a genuine overtaking move. But I guess he was annoyed with the RB strategy, so can sort of be excused.

To be fair it only matches what Kvyat did in China in being the first non-Mercedes across the line albeit with less experience in the car.

In the past, Hamilton has been super aggressive and Rosberg has been the one to back down. This time he didn't.

Racing accident, IMO, but Hamilton a little more worthy of blame.

Sorry, I tend to disagree.
At that speed, once Hamilton was on the grass there was only going to be one outcome.
If you watch the replay and look at the cars behind, none of them were taking the line that Rosberg chose to take. Okay he was defending his position, but the only reason he ended up where he did was to force Hamilton onto the grass.
If Schumacher had done that to somebody a few years ago, we'd all be calling him a cheat.

If Rosberg had not selected the wrong engine mode in the first place it would not have happened ... or at least not like that.

If Hamilton had not messed up the start (relatively speaking) that allowed Rosberg to pass, the accident would not have happened.

Also if Hamilton hadnt gone for a gap that wasnt there (or he knew it would be closed), the accident wouldnt have happened.

You can cut the incident anyway you want. The stewards deemed it to be a racing incident, i.e. no blame on either party.

End of the day the stats don't lie. Hamilton has not won a race now for 8 races. This is his longest wait for a win since 2013 in his 1st season in a Merc.

Yes I know his car has not been very reliable this season but it is worrying form for Lewis. I say this as a big fan of his to. Good chance it could be 9 races without a win after Monaco as been what, 8 years since he won there?

He has the car capable of winning. Hamilton is more than capable of going on a 10 race winning run. I hope he doesnt, but he can do it.

I can't see past Rosberg this year. I think he wants it a hell of a lot more and his mind is in the right place right now to do it.
