This race made me realize what a travesty it would be if Rosberg becomes world champion this year. Hamilton nearly lapped him for ****s sake.

I can think of 10 drivers on the grid who are better than him.
Sorry but that's rubbish. One race out of a hundred and you make this statement? People forget that he was the same person who destroyed Schumacher 3 years in a row. Pls none of that Schumacher is old stuff. Boxer who are far older have become world champions and we all known that is 100x tougher than f1.

Rosberg is a top 5

Only ahead Lewis, Alonso, Vettel and perhaps Ricardo. Nico is top 3 fastest no question.

I wonder why Hamilton is often the slowest off the line in the front grid runners ?

Well done Hamilton. Nice to see the good natured chat between him and Vettel afterwards. Different atmosphere in that room when Rosburg and Hamilton have to share it!
The 5 minutes of banter when Vettel ambushed Hamilton's interview on Sky Sports Paddock Live, was one of the best you'll ever see, Hamilton enjoyed it too! And now we know, Eric Cantona's not the only one with Seagulls on his mind!

Considering Ferrari ballsed up the strategy again Vettel was in very good humour after the race. I think he feels the turbo upgrade has finally given him an engine on a par with Mercedes irespective of what happened in the race so the rest of the season will be a lot more competative. I doubt Lewis would ever be that 'chummy' after the race if he had come second.

What a ridiculous circuit in Baku. To think of the great circuits that have been removed from the calendar to be replaced by this is depressing. Turns 8 and 9 are particularly dangerous. If anyone makes a mistake going into that narrow left handed they could go head first not only into the barrier but if airborne they could go head first into the side of a building at high speed.

It puts paid to the argument that if someone today suggested Monaco as a new circuit they would be laughed out of court.

They'll be very lucky if they get through the race without red flags happening.

With the buildings it reminds me of that track in gran turismo Citta di Aria and the longest f1 track ever Pescara.

The elevation, bumps and bottoming out are creating all hells of interference to the world feed, I seem to remember their being a similair problem at Singapore or Abu Dhabi but that being a electronic field problem with a section of the track.

Having heard about what happened in the GP2 race you are probably right. Apparently a very exciting race according the one commentator but in a way I would not call a good race (details with-held in the interest of spoiler prevention).

Not seen much of the new track but from what i have seen, it looks interesting. Im sure once drivers get used to it, it'll probably end up being one of their favourites.

Bluddyell. A wonderful opportunity to get rid of Jordan, and yet, here he is. He just gave a first rate impression of Ecclestone when he waves airily at the deserted grandstands and says "Don't worry. They'll be full tomorrow".

Quite liking the track, but getting a bit bored with what seems to be the secondary competition - who can do the best 180 out of a run-off area. And as for reversing out of them. That's just mad.

Yes, a dreadful circuit. Coulthard says it's not a point and squirt but that's exactly what it is - a succession of tight, narrow 90° corners with no run-off. Makes Monaco look like Spa. Oldies here may remember the Detroit street circuit from the 1980s; well that's what it reminds me of only much worse. It's a car crash waiting to happen in every sense of the term. I doubt they'll be back here again.

This circuit is a complete joke. You cannot have an F1 track that narrow. It's just asking for a pile up, especially that pathetic chicane section around the castle. This race is going to be ruined by track blockages and safety cars.

I remember Detroit and also Phoenix. At least they didn't have a section that narrow though. The red and white markings on the corners in that chicane are also coming up off the road. That could cause accidents and punctures.

Wasn't Rosberg lucky today that the red flag came out after he completed his lap.

Anyone want to guesstimate how many safety cars, red flags etc they'll be? I'm not even certain they'll complete all the laps. What time does it get dark in Baku?

Looks like a classic "Lewis crashes out" situation today, potentially. I hope not, it would ruin the race... but given how he drove in qualifying...

I like this new track. It's nothing like Monaco. Yes it has narrow sections but mostly itd twice has wide and therefore far more overtaking opportunities. One area that could be changed is that little kerb being removed I think it's just before castle. Drivers go over it anyway.

How stupid, Hamilton is having engine problems - a wrong setting - the team know what the problem is but the idiot rules don't allow them to tell him what's wrong. FFS!

Totally agree it's ridiculous. There are so many things to do in the car these days as well as driving the damn car. Needs changing.

The FIA really are superb at working out how to ruin a potentially good race (and qualifying) without really trying. Idiots.
