I think I lost interest since the changes to the V6 and battery power and not having the thrilling sound.
I can't believe the time would come where I could not be bothered to watch a F1 race, but it's happened.
I prefer BSB, Wsbk and Motogp now, but you even get boring races with these aswell, but not that often.
I'll give the next F1 season a try, but I doubt it will be any better.
F1 needs big changes to make it more entertaining.”
I used to watch it religiously. I was disappointed when Sky took over half of the live races, but still watched what I could on terrestrial TV, either live or highlights.
But over the last few years, I've been less and less bothered if I missed the live ones, as long as I caught the highlights.
Now, I'm not always bothered about the highlights unless I already know that there was some exciting racing. But there rarely is.
I don't know what can be done to improve it. I particularly do not like DRS. I realise it is an attempt to increase overtaking, but it seems so false to me. Drivers should be overtaking through ability and judgement, not just because they can flip a switch which gives their car a boost which is not available to the driver they are trying to overtake. So, a driver is being penalised because they are ahead.
I think a way forward might be to legislate in a way that reduces the effects of aerodynamics (not sure how), so that the following driver is not forced to hang back to be in clean(ish) air. This would allow closer racing as the following driver could keep harrying the one in front, and not have to drop back.
Possibly also a much narrower width limit on both the car itself and the tyres, but at the same time relaxing other regulations.
I know it's supposed to be the pinnacle and ideally allow innovation, but there are already a lot of restrictions, so changing the width ones seems OK.
I don't like the tyres restrictions. If they go down a single supplier route, then I think there should be a range of tyres made available to all, to use as they please. Ideally, I'd prefer competition between different suppliers. However, while ever it is a single supplier, then maybe have 3 or 4 types of tyres (wets, soft dries, hard dries and intermediates?). Each team could have an unlimited supply of wets (in case it rains at every race), but a defined number of others, to use as they please throughout the year. If they run out of the softs they have to use harder tyres in the later races. If the harder tyres have a longer life, then costs could be kept down.
There would be no limit on fuel. Teams can choose whether to go the whole face on one tankful, or refuel as they wish. Similarly, they could use one set of tyres, or change if they wish.
Edit. I also think it is important to keep a range of different styles of circuit, eg some slow and winding, some with long straights and hard braking, some with fast sweeping corners, some flat, some hilly, and some a mixture of several of the above. Different circuits would allow some teams to do well at some circuits.
