Liberty Media Group is buying F1. Not sure exactly what this means. Hopefully nothing changes.

Probably mean it will no longer be shown on free to watch TV ever again.

They will certianly look to exploit the sport on digital media far more than the current owners. They'll look to expand the sport in the US as well, so more races over there at the expense of some of the new races in places F1 should never have gone. I'd also expect they'll look to reduce the cost of running a team so they can attract more teams in, but that'll take a few years to organise. I wouldn't be surprised if in 10 years the entire format is completely different.

I foresee a future where we have just one top level open wheel series that has half its races on US ovals and is called IndyF1.

If Lew was not in a front running car F1 would be boring for me. Bit like 2011 and 2013 with SV on it.

Alex Lynn needs a go in the Williams hopefully

It is 50 years since Jackie Stewart's crash in the Belgian GP kick started his safety crusade. Question is, would the improvements to medical facilities, track design and the cars themselves have happened without JYS? Or would the annual death toll have resulted in F1 ceasing to exist long ago?

We would still have F1 even if it weren't for all the safety improvements. Look at how dangerous the TT races are and they still go on.

There are rumours going round that mercedes are using an active suspension system to generate all this fan boredom.

Apparently there is a loop hole and so it is all nice and legal.

Seems like another massive own goal for F1 and the racing sacrificed for self interest again.

I saw the results but i'm just not drawn to the actual race anymore this year i've kinda given up on the season. I'll watch the start as that will decide the race but that's pretty much it. I'll record it just in case it miraculously turns into a great race.

I think the lack of activity in this thread reflects the majority's lack of enthusiasm about F1 at the moment. Here's to hoping for a good race but I'm utterly uninspired with things at the moment.

Mercedes aren't as off the pace as they were at this race last season. That's the kind of thing we could have done with to drum up some interest.

Yeah it's a bit of a shame Mercedes aren't in the doldrums.

Sure they will have their starts figured out for tomorrow to.

You just sort of know unless one of Rosberg or Hamilton goes out they will be in the top 3 at least as Ferrari/Red Bull are a bit inconsistent despite their best efforts..

Is this the complete opposite of the broken suspension system Ferrari where using on Vettels car today?

People focus on Mercedes as those are the guys winning races but take them out and there's no exciting racing down the grid either.

These car specs and engines combined with the tyres just don't allow good racing

Sky hyping this up to be a thriller before the start.

Nothing happening at all.

The Kvyat/ Verstappen battle was pretty good.

In their desperation to help Hamilton they may have just screwed Rosberg over.

Hamilton has to be the most despised, unpleasant and unpopular driver in F1 history.

Kinda what they did to Hamilton in Austria which ended with them coming together on the last lap.

Which makes you question why the media seem to love it so much? Nothing to do with the off-track night life do you think?
