“Not even close. Again you are proven wrong when Vettel was ahanded a penalty after the race. Its strange knowing that, you still posted what you did. ”

What has Vettel's penalty for another matter got to do with it?

Many drivers over the years have straight lined a corner, and rarely has a penalty been given for it. They take the line of least resistance to rejoin the track.
If Max had rejoined between t2 and t3 he would have backed up Vettel even more than Vettel claims he did.
The claim he should have done this has only come about because it would mean he would have had to let Vettel pass.

“I liked Max when he started racing, now I think he is a bit of a ****. Maybe its because hes still young, and mature with age. I hope he does. He does need to learn that not every gap is an overtaking opportunity.”

What has this got to do with anything? I am far from a Verstappen fan but he was defending a position not attempting to overtake. During this defense and made a mistake, and people for some reason expect him to have done something no other driver would have done if they were in the same position.

Well at Brazil any win will do for Rosberg. I don't think he looks too much like winning a GP at the moment. He's not had a lot of luck at Brazil so perhapes that is going to change round this time.

I am surprised you like Abu Dhabi so much. I can see how the area could be fun with Ferrari world but as a venue for racing i think it's terrible.

The whole track is tight slow turns and that blue border which adds nothing.

All over the world I am fed up seeing cars disapear behind bridges. Even more fed up of Heineken hoardings making ever GP track look down right tacky.

They should be penalised for even being on TV in the first place.Sky F1 is far better, especially the analysis they give. There is a piece on the Sky Sport app in which Martin Bundle relates how he visited the stewards in Mexico to see the technology they have at their disposal.

I'll agree with you about Jordan, he's a muppet.
But Coulthard? I like him.

You seemed to have missed the point I was making. The FIA messed up, if they had done their job properly, Max would have been behind Vettel. This way he would not have been able to back Vettel into Ricciardo.

Originally Posted by SmoggyTheTowny:

If you look at it in isolation, then nothing. However since this is connected to Max not being told to get behind Vettel, it is related.

So by that logic, two wrongs make a right?

Initially they did advise him, he didnt listen did he? Later they told him to stay put, however in between the two messages he ignored his team.

I agree, you dont move over until the FIA tell you to. However the FIA should have seen what was happening. I was able to see what was happening, as did Martin who was commentating at the time. So should the FIA, and handed Max his penalty ASAP.

My point about Max, was the arrogance he showed in the interview afterwards. I agree with what he said about Vettel and his bad language. He did look an idiot, when he denied he backed Vettel into Ricciardo. Getting chucked out of the green room was harsh, but them the brakes.

After all said and done, it was a problem started by the FIA for not giving Hamilton a penalty for jumping the first corner on the first lap. They then though we cant punish Max for doing the same. However when they realised Max was backing Vettel into Ricciardo, they then acted after the race. The issue was further compounded when Vettel made a banned move whilst defending, something that wouldnt have happened if the FIA has done its job properly. So they punished Vettel after the race as well. It was a comedy of errors by the FIA. Whoever was the drivers steward that weekend. I hope they dont do the job again, they were useless. Although I have a sneaking suspicion someone high up had a word, and told him not to punish Lewis. We dont wasnt to spoil the spectacle.

I think hes smart, hes thinking finish second in the remaining races, I am champion. No need to stress the engine or the other parts.

With Abu Dhabi, I was referring to the facilities, the area and the country., or should say emirate. Compare the facilities at Abu Dhabi to say something like Silverstone, and it makes Silverstone look like a dump. We arrived on race day, about 90mins before the race. No traffic issues whatsoever, the taxi driver dropped us of at one of the carparks, and it was a 2min walk to the entrance. We had box seats on the main straight, so the food was provided all day, excellent view. We could sit inside in air conditioned room, or sit outside on the seats. An enjoyable experience.

As for it being a poor track to race on, that may well be the case. However which of Tilkes tracks arent? The thing with the blue border, you instantly know its the Abu Dhabi track.

Sounds no different to a standard corporate hospitality suite at Silverstone. Maybe better to compare the experiences of someone with a general access ticket only: Food stalls and loos, access to trackside views?

These werent corporate hospitality suite tickets. The corporate boxes were on the opposite side of the track above the pit garages. At Abu Dhabi you have your grandstand seats, and in some areas you have boxes. Our ticket allowed us the same access as the grandstand tickets, with regards to the area we were allowed to walk in etc. The only extra thing we were allowed was access to the pit lane on thursday for a couple of hours.

From what I remember, the corporate tickets were around 3x the price of the tickets we bought.

Another teen in F1 replacing Massa at Williams.

In because he has the talent or just the money?

IRC Williams do post a profit, so they don't need money. But if the kids got talent and brings an extra few pounds then why not?

So is Ross Brawn taking over from Bernie E? Or possibly about to do a job share whilst he learns the ropes?

Plus he's satisfied the points system they now use, so not as if it's a Diniz or Lavaggi!

The fact that he was only ever racing his tem mate anyway, who has had a lot of bad luck during the course of the season. Its still not over yet and I would say Hamilton is the better driver. Nico has been able to cruise in some races because there has been no threat from Hamilton.
It does make it better as a spectator as the title is still not decided and we are in November. I'm sure Bernie will like that,

Rosberg has also had a bit of bad luck as well. Hamilton has his fair share of good luck as well, as has Rosberg. After Hamiltons antics over the last few weeks, he doesnt deserve the title. Rosberg will (hopefully) make a great champion.

Since its 'always' Hamilton that has problems, as he claims. You have to think a lot of his 'bad' luck has been brought on himself. His driving style obviously doesnt suit the merc. So not really bad luck, but unable to drive the car in a way that wont end up damaging the parts.

If the title went to the best driver, Alonso should have won it over the last few years. However its not awarded to the best driver, but to the driver in the best car. Mercs have, by far, the best car over the last three years.

As a spectator, I have gone of F1 in a big way. Having watched every quali and race for around 15+ years, this year was the first time where I couldnt be bothered. I have only watched around 7 or 8 races. Most of those have been on fast forward.

I hear there is a high chance of rain on Sunday. Terrible news for Rosberg if this is true given how badly he has driven in the wet thise year.

Alonso sums up how bad F1 is these days ;

Alonso spent the final 35 minutes of the 90-minute session at Interlagos looking on from the sidelines after he was forced to pull his McLaren off track due to a data anomaly found in the ERS water pressure.

He said what he saw from the trackside - and from an FOM camera he commandeered for a spell - left him bored.

"Fans want to see fast cars, something where you cannot close your mouth after you see the car passing," said Alonso

"I was 30 minutes today outside the circuit and I was sleeping.

"Thankfully I found this chair and this camera. If not, it's impossible [to watch].

"We should pay the people who are in the grandstands to watch the cars passing."

That is how I have felt this season more than ever. Even on race day, take away the first 2/3 laps, 90% of the rest of the race is just flat out boring and offers no excitement what so ever.

Even driven in flat out current F1 cars are still bland to watch the drivers are no longer able to play with the throttle mid corner or use power to pivot the cars etc. The way the power is delivered they have to rely on torque management systems. The traction control cars were more exciting.

I hope adding down force next year will actually make the cars better.

This is another reason why the boring talk from the likes of Brundle about track limits is negative for the sport. It is drivers trying to make up for deficiencies in there cars that use the extra space. Once you force them not to do that and to all follow the same line round the track you more so just line them up in chassis performance order. Determined by power delivery and areo load.

The sport needs less down force not more.

Right now i have a feeling we need more down force. These hybrids are like turbo diesels from the 80s prepared to the progressive way the V8s and V10s delivered power. Dumping downforce on to the cars will help with this i feel.

The inmportant thing is that the areo dynamics don't over work the air making it dirty and that the areo isn't too fiddly that the cars are sensitive to following each other.

At the moment that main reason the car behind feels the been to drop back is that the tyres over heat. Next year the tyres are to be more durable.

Also at the moment the drivers are scared to light the rears as it puts them in to thermal deg. More down force helps with that also.

I think we just need to keep an open mind about next year.

The problem is though that there is no incentive for teams to reduce the dirty air coming off the back of their cars. If anything they would actively want to make the air as dirty as possible. Doesn't even matter if that slows them down by .2 seconds per lap if it means the car behind is ruining their tyres, overheating their brakes & cooking their engines whilst not being get near enough to overtake.

The tyres next year will be bigger but the speed and stresses put on them will be greater negating the benefit of the tyres. If you put the bigger wheels/tyres on this years cars we might have an advantage for grip.

I would much rather see big wheels/tyre used, the aero massively reduced, the dirty air monitored and regulated to much lower levels and other banned tech re-instated.
I'd love to see active suspension back in F1. It's been on road cars for years and would massively help with cornering speeds and excitement. Active Aero could be used far more allowing the designers to have wings that increase the df as speed increases like most top-end hypercars.
I'd like to see the front wings massively reduced in width. They're just ridiculous and way too complicated. They should be no wider than the inside edge of the front wheels . The rear wings, as I think is happening, will be wider and lower which will look much nicer but maybe create a wider dirty air trail to follow which is not what we need.

Not that it makes much difference these days as drivers either don't want or aren't allowed to race in the rain. No, it's lap after lap (after lap) behind the Safety-car until the Sun is peeking through the cloud. Wet-weather driving has become a lost art, it seems.

I keep saying it but the grid should line up in reverse Championship order. Viewing figures would skyrocket as people who've become disenchanted with F1 come flooding back. I'm hoping Liberty Media has a visionary in their organization.
