I think it's the right time for Jenson to go.

German GP to go next year also. More damage done by pay to view TV.

It is sad to see Button retire as he is not only a very good driver but very personable. Hardly a surprise though as reserve driver in 2017 with a possible option to return in 2018 for a team as woeful as McLaren are is hardly inviting for a former world champion.

I see Hamilton is using the going faster strategy it's bound to work.

Nicco had done well to last this long but I think he is in trouble. A Red Bull or team mate or something is going to crash in to him this weekend and some how get away with.

Some kind of miss fortune is coming his way.

I wouldn't put it past Hamilton to engineer an "incident" in the hope it sees Rosberg off the track ..

More likely to be the other way round.

Nicco won't want to see any safety cars. He'll have a mercedes road blocking him and at least two Red Bulls on a ramming run.

Hamilton isn't going to take any more risks than Rosberg and trying to back Rosberg up into the RBs is risky. If they're competative enough to pass one Merc they can pass both. Besides which this isn't Hamilton's best circuit. I suspect it's all irrelevent, though. The Mercs look safe in terms of pace.

Hamilton has nothing to lose though. Rosberg is very likely going to be champion no matter what happens, so to go full-on conspiracy, Hamilton may well just try something anyway.

Schumacher and Senna have both been involved in "questionable" incidents before where they've taken out their nearest title rivals, so it's not like it's entirely unheard of.

But to match the Senna / Schumacher incidents what you have ask yourself is this: Who benefits from both Mercs crashing out?

I'm not saying Hamilton would look to take both himself and Rosberg out because it would be pointless.

I'm saying that he would likely look to try and engineer a "racing incident" that could result in Rosberg going off.

If they're 1 & 2 and trying to go past some back markers, for the sake of argument.

Don't get me wrong, it's nothing more than pure conspiracy speculation on my part, based, obviously, on my dislike of Hamilton. Chances are that nothing controversial will happen at all, but I just feel that based on Hamilton's attitude when he doesn't win or when something goes wrong, I just have a niggle that he might try something.

If memory serves, I'm sure he tried a pretty outrageous move on the final lap to get past someone on his way to winning his first title, so if he's willing to do something like that, then it surely shows he'll be willing to do anything to win if it means winning the title.

Given how petty the stewards have been in recent races in an effort to suck any last bit of excitement out of the racing I would have to say this is never going to happen.

Well that wasn't stopping him at Brazil. I think hamilton would do anything to compromise rosbergs race and get a car in between them why wouldn't he.

At a restart red bull have an early advantage due to quicker tyre warm up. The advantage only lasts a few laps the it evens out and goes back towards the mercedes. It's often enough to pass one car.

Also at the start of the race hamilton going slowly will back rosberg in to riccardo. Hamilton then gets to undercut them all and escape a bit but rosberg is then vulnerable to the alternative strategy.

Then there is the other angle that anything could happen to Rosberg if riccardo trys a crazy move. You seen him locked up in corners all the time with a crash or pass mind set.

I would expect a fair amount of cynical racing tomorrow.

I suppose the ultimate end would be for Hamilton to engineer something that causes Rosberg to go off and out of the race and then Hamilton's engine gives up the ghost five laps before the end ..

That's more Rosberg's MO. If there's anybody who is willing to play dirty tricks like Monaco 2014 or Spain this year; it's the German. Add to that his thinking that forcing drivers off track at corner entry in Austria and Germany is "perfectly ok" - it's not Hamilton who is prone to extremely nasty tactics.

I'll be fairly happy to see Rosberg win tbh. I suppose there's a chance for one or other of the merc drivers mucking up their start under the pressure of the situation which would ensure an exciting race but I'm expecting both to get a clean start and the race to be a simple 1-2.

As Officer Crabtree might say , Good lick to you Lewis. And here's to an exciting race.

It would be ironic if Hamilton wins the race with Rosberg snatching 3rd place on the last lap.

I think it's more likely to be a boring race with a Mercedes 1-2 though.

Verstappen messing it up instead.

The commentators spent a good bit of time saying that Hamilton wasn't going that fast and looked like he was backing Rosberg up into the cars behind only to have it show as a fastest lap by Hamilton a few seconds later.

Funny how almost all of the fastest laps coming up on screen are by Hamilton eh?

This sums it up from the BBC feed ..
