Rosberg only 13/2 to win despite being on pole.

Not surprising as the Mercedes' race pace is known not to be as good as that of the Red Bull. I predict another Vettel win tomorrow.

The Mclaren need Pace from somewhere -because i cannot seem winning for the rest of the year and if that carries on i can see Jenseon leaving for a more Competitive car next year

It's a bit odd the way McLaren lack pace at the moment.

When Coulthard did the commentary on the lap it was all "Well, that's not too bad"...."Oh, that's fairly tidy"....."That's okay" etc.
About the only place where the car looked noticeably poor was in the final chicane.

Soooo, that being the case, it's a bit worrying that they lost over a second in the first 2 sectors without any really noticeable shortfall in performance.

I honestly think there's more to their problems than their "new direction" to design.
It seems like the whole car has been designed to be rather "calm" and "safe" in it's handling and as a result of that it doesn't seem like there's much performance to be extracted from it, even if the driver is pushing hard.
And, I gotta say, it seems like that kind of handling has Button's fingerprints all over it.

I think Button has a gift for taking an unruly car and taming it with his smooth driving style but I worry that, perhaps, building a car that he actually approves of might yield a rather tame car.

That little bit from Gary Anderson on the BBC yesterday showed the front end of the McLaren bouncing all over the shop, that can't be good.

Looks like yesterday's qualifing from Mercedes was all bluster.

Not exactly a thriller, is it?

Classic example of the whole "22 cars on track together but nobody racing" thing.

Everybody's too busy looking after their tyres and driving to a lap-time to consider doing much motor-racing.

Its turned into a tyre management race.

Does management include keeping them on the car?

'Now I've been overtaken by a Williams'

Lewis not impressed...

When was the last time this circuit produced anything other than a dull race?

Edit: now 'I can't drive any slower'...

I don't know whether to laugh or cry... They need to find a lot more race pace, it is a joke to qualify on the front row and be that crap in the race.

Rubbish race so far.

Horrific race pace from the Mercedes. Absolutely horrific. It says a lot when Hamilton qualified on the front row and is now in 12th.. That car really is a qualifying car and nothing else.

Kudos to Rosberg for actually keeping a lead for the first stint.

Trouble is, the combination of a twisty circuit and the current tyres means that nobody wants to risk doing anything other than trundling around and then using DRS on the main straight.

There's more excitement on lane 3 of the M25.

This race is so sedate. Really dull to see the drivers protecting their tyres and driving on eggshells. Very dull race.

Hamilton may as well park up and get out a picnic table by the side of the track and wave at the passing cars!

As Spanish GP's go, this hasn't been the worst. Last year was worse. Some people, Alonso/Ferrari being the obvious examples, have just decided that the best strategy is to just go for it. The tyres don't help, but it's just a boring track.

Plus, if you think this is dull, wait for the next race...

Disaster for Sauber and Nico there.

Hamilton is only about 14 seconds away from being lapped by Alonso!

All the tye talk is a massive turn off. Millions goes into the design of the cars and it all comes down to tyre wear.

I preferred it when the tyres lasted a good reasonable time and when they use to refuel as well. Let's get back to the good old days of leaving the pits with the fuel hose still connected!

I see JEV's tyre delaminated.

That's Hamilton (who suffered a grid-penalty as a result too), di Resta and JEV who've suffered with that now.

Well, at least Monaco tends to be chaotic, which is a decent substitute for excitement when there's none to be found.

Speaking of which, gonna be fun in Monaco if Merc' qualify on pole.
